Jamie Carragher has claimed it is ‘inevitable’ Ruben Amorim will be sacked as Man United boss, with the pundit outlining when he expects the Red Devils to make a change.
Amorim has been under intense pressure following an underwhelming start to the campaign, which has come off the back of a 15th place finish last season and vast investment in the squad over the summer.
Man United earned a 2-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday to release some pressure on the 40-year-old boss.
The result saw the club head into the international break in 10th place in the Premier League, having won three, drawn one and lost three matches in the top flight so far this campaign.
Speaking on Sky Sports last week, former Liverpool defend Carragher claimed the Amorim’s tenure had been a ‘disaster’ for both the coach and Man United.
Carragher insisted Amorim’s spell needs to end ‘as quickly as possible’, but suggested Man United’s hierarchy had not dismissed him yet as it would be an acknowledgement they had made a mistake.
The pundit doubled down on his view, despite Man United’s win over Sunderland, and suggested Amorim will have left Old Trafford before Christmas.
‘I don’t like saying a manager should be sacked – it’s disrespectful and it’s a man’s job – but I’m at that point where I do think Ruben Amorim’s job is untenable,’ Carragher said, speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, brought to you by Sky Bet.

Carragher’s view was backed by Man United legend Paul Scholes, who suggested the head coach has already been given ‘too much time’.
‘I feel like with Ruben Amorim it’s got to the point where we don’t want to talk about sacking managers all the time and Manchester United do give managers enough time,’ Scholes said.
‘He’ll never get booed by the fans and it wasn’t until that Brentford game [where they lost 3-1] where I thought, “He’s getting a little bit too much time” and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before things come to an end.’
Amorim, who reached 50 matches in charge of Man United on Saturday, has yet to lead the club to back-to-back Premier League wins.
He will attempt to end the trend against Liverpool after the international break, with Man United travelling to face the champions on October 19.
Scholes expressed concern over Man United’s trip to Anfield, stating it was ‘predictable’ that his former side will lose in a big match.
‘Ruben Amorim needs to try and get something from Liverpool at Anfield,’ Scholes said.
‘I’d be thinking about drawing the game and finding a way somehow to stop them from scoring. That’s a totally different mentality from Arsenal going to Liverpool, who are looking at winning the league.
‘Manchester United are in such a rut and I can’t remember the last time they won a big game, or a game that meant a lot.
‘This group of players are in such a bad rut that you have no confidence in them that they’re going to get out of it. It’s almost predictable that they’ll go to Anfield and get beat.’
Scholes comment comes despite Amorim leading Man United to a 2-1 victory Chelsea last month, although the Blues had been reduced to 10-men in the early stages.
In total, Amorim has overseen 10 wins, seven draws and 17 defeats from his 34 Premier League matches in charge.
Half of Amorim’s league wins have come against promoted opposition, with the Red Devils having beaten both Sunderland and Burnley this season.
Man United also beat Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton last season – with the trio all suffering relegation back to the Championship.
