Ivan Toney has been pictured back in training with Al-Ahli for the first time since he was reportedly arrested in central London.
Speculation was rife on Saturday after reports in The Sun suggested a 29-year-old England international had been arrested on suspicion of assault and affray in the early hours of the morning.
That player was later revealed to be Toney, with the same publication sharing a photo of the former Brentford striker being led out of 100 Wardour Street, Soho, in handcuffs.
It’s thought that Toney was arrested at around 1am after reacting violently to a fan attempting to take a picture with him at the popular London bar. He was however ultimately released on bail, police confirmed.
And the Al-Ahli frontman has seemingly wasted no time in jetting back to Saudi Arabia as he was spotted in training with the Saudi Pro League club on Tuesday.
Toney posed in an oxygen mask for photos posted on Al-Ahli’s Instagram with the accompanying caption: ‘Breath by breath… we level up.’
The forward could be back in action for the club, who also boast former Man City man Riyad Mahrez, next Friday when they travel to Damac.
A witness who saw the incident on Saturday told The Sun: ‘He (Toney) walked past a table of a group of lads.’
‘One of them recognised him and said, “Oh, it’s Ivan Toney,” and tried to put his hands around his neck to get a photo with him.
‘And then Toney has said, “Get off me, get off me.”‘ The alleged assault followed.
The witness claimed the victim had ‘blood leaking from the bridge of his nose’, while they suggested Toney may have felt the fan had been trying to attack him and take jewellery off him.
The Met Police confirmed a man was arrested on Saturday after reports of an assault, but added that they have been released on bail while enquiries continue.
‘Police were called to Wardour Street, W1 at 00:47hrs on Saturday, 6 December following reports of an assault,’ a statement read.
‘The victim was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.
‘A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.’
Toney was recalled to the England squad back in May after a period away from the side, coming off the bench in the 88th minute of the Three Lions’ 3-1 friendly loss to Senegal.
