Iran and the US are in talks about implementing a 45-day ceasefire as Donald Trump threatens to destroy Iranian power plants unless the Strait of Hormuz is fully reopened, it has been reported.
Mediators are said to be discussing terms for a temporary truce which could pave the way for an end to the war which today enters its sixth week.
Multiple insiders told Axios the chances of reaching a deal before Trump’s Tuesday deadline are ‘slim’ after Iran dismissed several US proposals in recent day.
The President warned tomorrow will be ‘Power Plant Day’ as he threatened to attack Iran’s civilian infrastructure unless the Strait of Hormuz is fully reopened.
Speaking last night, Trump told Axios: ‘There is a good chance, but if they don’t make a deal, I am blowing up everything over there.’
