Inside the celebrity homes that prove stars have too much cash

Some of the most unique and over-the-top celebrity homes are the ones where it’s clear no expense has been spared.

Whether it’s the sheer size of the mansion or the wacky amenities, these are the homes that scream money.

While some of the least desirable dwellings of the rich and famous are cluttered or ‘too normal’, these houses are excessive and far beyond the reach of the average person.

Here, the Daily Mail looks at some of the most ostentatious celebrity homes, including a love nest in the style of a UFO (complete with its own nightclub, of course), and a luxurious pad that comes with a lazy river, water park and beach access.

Celine Dion’s waterpark home complete with a lazy river

Imagine having a water park and a lazy river in your backyard.

For world-famous singer Celine Dion, that dream was once a reality she herself constructed with her late husband, René Angélil.

In 2010, Dion and Angélil built their 11,000 square feet dream home in Jupiter Island, Florida.

The opulent space included a 500,000-gallon waterpark with a winding waterslide.

The stunning estate also boasted three swimming pools and a tennis court, along with ample guest rooms and pavilions for friends and relatives.

The lavish home included a two-story waterslide, a lazy river and multiple swimming pools

Other amenities included a golf simulator, theater and a 100-meter stretch of private beach.

The main house had five bedrooms with five ensuite bathrooms, a formal living room with vaulted ceilings, a media room, an elevator and two kitchens.

There were also two four-bedroom guest homes and a pool house, bringing the property’s total to 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.

Dion, 57, sold the mansion to a mystery buyer for $38.5 million in 2017, one year after Angélil died following a battle with throat cancer, aged 73.

Queen of Versailles’ sprawling Florida megamansion

Nothing screams money more than the sprawling Florida mansion belonging to Jackie Siegel, the self-proclaimed Queen of Versailles.

Her huge home – which is based on France’s Palace of Versailles and the top floors of Las Vegas’s Paris Hotel – boasts 14 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, five kitchens and a 150-person event hall.

Siegel and her late husband David started building the massive mansion more than two decades ago

Spread across a gargantuan 90,000 square feet, it is thought to be one of the largest single-family homes in the country and is rumored to have cost $100 million to build.

Siegel began construction on the home with her late husband, David Siegel, 22 years ago – and it’s still under construction.

Work on the property came to a halt in 2009 when it was only a little over half completed due to financial difficulties David encountered with his business due to the 2007–2008 financial crisis.

The megamansion was then put on the market for $65 million, and it became a sensation after the release of the 2012 documentary The Queen of Versailles.

Siegel’s husband’s business had stabilized by 2013, and he was able to buy up the property outright and continue to work on it.

However, estimated dates of completion have come and gone over the years. In 2013, it was said that it would be finished in 2016, but that was later pushed back to 2020, and it remains unfinished today.

John Travolta’s private runway

Plane-obsessed John Travolta’s Florida home is complete with its very own private runway, allowing him to cut out any pesky airport transfers.

The Grease actor, 71, bought his luxury Ocala pad with his late wife, Kelly Preston, in 2001 for $3.5 million.

Together, they were the first to purchase a house on the country’s only private runway, where Travolta was able to operate his ex-Qantas Airlines Boeing 707 jetliner for a time.

‘It was always John’s dream to have planes in his front yard – to practically be able to pull up to the house – so that when you wanted to go to dinner, all you’d have to do was step out the door, get on the plane and whisk off,’ Preston told Architectural Digest in 2014.

‘And we fly in and out a lot. Last year when Johnny was shooting a movie in Tampa, he flew to and from work every day.

‘Each night the kids and I would go out in the golf cart, watch the landing, then bring Johnny to the house while the plane taxied in. It was very exciting.’

Besides the runway, the home spans approximately 7,500 square feet with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Travolta put the home up for sale in September with an asking price of $10 million.

Kim Kardashian’s play village for her kids

In 2021, Kim Kardashian revealed that she built an elaborate play village for her four children.

Situated in the backyard of her $60 million Calabasas mansion, the Skims businesswoman created a child-friendly mall which features a mini KKW Beauty boutique, a fire station, a diner – and even an ATM.

Kardashian, 45, made sure the village, named Lil Hidden Hills, was as realistic as possible, too, and included working streetlamps and running water.

A colorful Lego castle also featured two royal blue slides and two defensive towers for the kids to climb up to and peer down on their pals.

A confectionery castle dominated by bright pink paint and roofs made to resemble sprinkle-topped cupcakes.

Kardashian purchased the sprawling estate from her ex-husband Kanye West in 2021 following their divorce.

The eight-bedroom, ten-bathroom property also has two swimming pools, two vineyards, a guest house and a recording studio.

Naomi Campbell’s Russian spaceship lovenest

A futuristic and UFO-like mansion was built for Naomi Campbell in a Russian forest by ex-lover Vladislav Doronin.

The 35,520 square foot home, designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, was built in an elite suburb of Moscow and had its own nightclub.

Naomi Campbell dated Vladislav Doronin for four years, seen together at the Royal Wedding of Prince Albert II of Monaco to Princess Charlene of Monaco in 2011

According to Russian Hello, the house had its own spa, a 20-meter swimming pool, a sports hall, a club and a Japanese garden.

The original design was scribbled on the back of a napkin during the pair’s four-year relationship and is thought to have been intended as Doronin’s wedding present for the supermodel before they later broke up.

The couple were dating between 2008 and 2012 when Campbell, now 55, was frequently seen in the Russian capital.

Much of the house is sunk underground but the tower, which is 115ft above ground and offers a view over the trees, boasts a bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

Reports claim the love nest cost $140 million to build.
