I’m A Celebrity’s Gemma Collins accused show bosses of ‘trying to kill her’ after she got pelted in the face with gunge and failed a crucial food challenge.

During Wednesday’s instalment of the hit ITV show, campmates were surprised with a trial just before bedtime.

The TV personality, 45, was selected to take part alongside Jimmy Bullard for Team Rhinos, going up against Team Lions’ Harry Redknapp and Scarlett Moffatt.

But after being thrown into the Creeper Train trial and its crocodile-infested carriage, things quickly took a turn for the worse for Gemma.

An explosive burst of slime and bugs smacked her straight in the face – and that was quite enough for her.

Handing over the first task to Scarlett, she said: ‘Forget it, you’ve won, f*** me guys, that just went straight in my face.’

Gemma later threw herself back into the game to search for nuggets in the carriages, but it wasn’t enough to beat Scarlett and she lost the challenge.

However, it all became too much for Gemma, who broke down in tears following the trial.

She said: ‘I did my best I did my best.

‘I feel like you’re trying to kill me. You’re going to kill me. It’s, like, not even funny. I feel like you’re definitely trying to kill me.’

Later in camp, Gemma told Jimmy: ‘I’m bruised look at them bruises Jim. I did try. And we’re still in the lead.’

She then quipped: ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me the f*** Out of Here.’

Following the trial, fans flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to show their support for the star.

One fan wrote: ‘Really want Gemma to win.’; ‘Come on Gemma!’; ‘If Gemma goes home we boycott okay?’

It comes after an I’m A Celebrity campmate was accused by furious viewers of ‘faking fears and playing up to the cameras’.

Earlier this month, the ITV show launched the second series of its South Africa spin-off,which sees past favourites return to compete.

Viewers hit out at comedian Seann Walsh, 40, as he took on the trial, Cut Throat Cliff, in Tuesday night’s episode.

He was playing for Harry Redknapp’s Lion team alongside Sir Mo Farah, against Beverley Callard and Sinitta for Jimmy Bullard’s Rhino team.

It saw the four celebrities suspended 140ft above the ground off a cliff edge and having to answer general knowledge questions.

Whenever they answered incorrectly, or if the other team got an answer right, they had to cut one of their ropes.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Seann – who originally entered the jungle in 2022 – made his fear of heights very clear.

Although taking to social media, not all viewers were left convinced he was being genuine.

Following the tough trial, Gemma broke down in tears in the Bush Telegraph, saying: 'I feel like you’re trying to kill me. You’re going to kill me. It’s, like, not even funny. I feel like you’re definitely trying to kill me'

One started a Reddit thread titled ‘I just cannot take to Seann’, as they penned: ‘I always see that he is popular online but i just feel like i am going mad because I don’t get it.

‘Maybe it’s just him but I get this feeling he is being fake and playing up to the cameras.

‘Especially the way he acted in the trial where Gemma eventually told him to shut up.

‘I would take to him a lot more if he was not desperately trying to be funny all the time. It reminds me of Michael Barrymore on big brother and it makes me feel uncomfortable.

‘Also I think he has latched onto Gemma because he knows she will get a lot of air time. Even saying about how everything she says is a meme.’

Another remarked: ‘He laughs so hard at absolutely everything and anything, I find it quite overbearing tbh.’

A third said: ‘I felt like this the last time he was on. There’s something very false about him. It feels like playing up to the camera.’

A fourth shared: ‘After last night’s episode where in the trial he was suspended, I’m now mixed on this as he was very annoying unfortunately!

‘Not sure if it was his tactic to purposely be dramatic and put off the other players or if he was genuinely s******g himself and found the best outlet in that situation was to shout out loud his thoughts but he did grate me a bit.’
