I’m A Celeb winner AngryGinge reveals his mum’s home has burned down

AngryGinge has been left devastated after his mother’s house burned down in a house fire just hours before his Soccer Aid appearance.

The YouTuber, 24, took to Instagram on Tuesday as he shared an update from his mum’s house after the fire damage.

AngryGinge and his England team were triumphant on Sunday night as they lifted the charity football trophy to raise money for UNICEF.

However he explained that on Sunday morning, before the charity match, he received a call to say his mum Michelle’s house had burned down.

Standing in what was the living room, he showed fans the damage while speaking through a mask to protect himself from the dust and smoke.

He told fans: ‘So as you can tell, you wouldn’t think it, but right now I am in my mum’s house’.

‘Morning of Soccer Aid I get a phone call saying mum’s house has burned down.

‘This is what we are dealing with now, obviously there will be more updates, but at the minute, I mean yeah’.

He continued: ‘This isn’t even the worst of the worst. We are dealing with this at the minute. I will keep you all updated and I will be live whenever I can go live’.

On Monday night, AngryGinge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, left fans concerned after he explained he couldn’t go live on social media due to a family emergency.

He penned: ‘Just letting you all know I probably won’t be live tonight as we have had a major family issue the morning of yesterday. So a lot needs sorting out I’ll try and be live when I can I appreciate you all and thank you for always supporting me.’

Thanking fans for his Soccer Aid experience he added: ‘The support last night cheered me up massively of what I needed but atm I need to be with my family and make sure everything is ok. Hopefully get live soon love you’.

Ginge was raised by his mum on a council estate in Salford, with Michelle working multiple jobs including as a cleaner and in a care home to bring in £12,500 a year to support Morgan and his sister.

She previously told The Daily Mail: ‘We lived in a rough area for gangs, it could have easily gone that way for him.

‘But we kept him busy with the after-school clubs – cubs, football, theatre, rugby and he loved them all.’

‘He did cheerleading as well,’ she laughed. ‘They actually won a competition out of all the schools in the area.’

Michelle revealed she broke down in tears after watching him sob on I’m A Celebrity back in December when he was seen struggling with homesickness and missing his family.

He shared in the Bush Telegraph: ‘It’s a bit of a s**t day really, I just feel as though I’m missing home, missing speaking to my family, food and drink as well is a massive part but they say you have up days and down days…’

Pausing, Ginge then added as he choked up: ‘I’m holding it in. I suppose it’s just one of my down days…’

Ahead of arriving in Australia alongside the other celebs’ loved ones, the star’s mum Michelle described her reaction to the emotional scenes.

She told The Sun: ‘I haven’t managed to watch the full episode yet as I’ve been travelling, but I saw a clip on TikTok.

‘My heart absolutely sank, I started crying.

‘It was so hard to see, because I know Morgan is such a strong person, so he must have been struggling a lot.

‘I just can’t wait to give him the biggest hug on that bridge.’
