Six arrested after 13-year-old girl is repeatedly stabbed

A 13-year-old girl is fighting for her life and six teenagers have been arrested for attempted murder following an horrific early morning attack.

The victim was found severely injured at 6.50am today near the main A63 road on the outskirts of Hull after reportedly being stabbed.

Members of the public tried to help her and give her first aid until emergency services arrived.

Police rushed to the scene and found she had suffered stab wounds to her neck, chest, abdomen and back.

Humberside Police said she was taken to hospital for ‘treatment to life-threatening injuries.’

Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers, who is leading the investigation, said the 13-year-old victim was in a critical condition. (A forensic police officer stands inbetween taped off boundaries)

Officers searched the area and found six teenagers, four boys aged 14, 15, 16 and 17, and two girls, aged 14 and 15, in a wooded area nearby. They were all arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

All six remain in custody.

Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers, who is leading the investigation, said the 13-year-old victim was in a critical condition.

He said: ‘I understand this incident will rightly cause concerns amongst the community and I would like to offer my assurances that as a part of our initial investigation, we have six individuals in custody who are all being questioned by detectives.

‘At this time, we do believe the attackers knew the victim and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances around the incident.

‘The girl remains in hospital in critical condition and her family are being supported by officers at this difficult time.’

The incident took place close to the Humber Bridge and an area of woodland off Ferriby High Road has been sealed off by police.

Det Supt Vickers appealed for information from the public and for dashcam or CCTV footage from around the time of the incident.
