Horror as human leg ‘with sock and shoe still on’ washes up on beach

A human leg with a ‘sock and shoe’ still attached to it was found washed up on a Scottish beach.

The tragic find was made at on Prestwick Beach, in Ayrshire, on the morning June 10 at around 10.45am.

Witnesses reported finding the bone, which belongs to the man, ‘buried under seaweed’ along with items of clothing.

Mystery initially surrounded the discovery, but now police have linked it to the discovery of human remains 70 miles away.

Officers believe it is part of the body of a man who was found in the coastal village of Millisle, Northern Ireland in May.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and it is understood the man – whose body was found close to the coastal Donaghadee Road – was not from Northern Ireland.

Police Scotland said: ‘Around 10.45am on Tuesday, 10 June, 2025, we received a report that human remains had been discovered on Prestwick Beach.

‘The remains were determined to be male and police are engaging with the family of the deceased. The death is not being treated as suspicious.’
