Gary Neville’s sister has shared ‘truly scary’ footage of her Sky Sports pundit brother being viciously verbally abused as he walked in Manchester.
The former footballer, 51, was repeatedly called a ‘f***ing w***er’ and a ‘f***ing p***k’ when he was spotted strolling through his home city.
His abuser also accused him of being out of touch with ‘the working class man’ and claimed ‘even your own fans have turned against you’.
Mr Neville, who appeared to be with his wife Emma, bristled and stopped when the verbal abuse began before walking on in silence as he was repeatedly bombarded with insults.
The footage emerged on social media today after it was shared by a troll who crowed: ‘Gary Neville getting called a f***ing w***er is not what I expected… but it is delightful’.
Mr Neville has been asked to comment by the Daily Mail – but is yet to respond himself.
However his sister Tracey, a former England netball international and ex-England head coach handed an MBE for services to the sport, has given her own reaction.
Responding to the troll who shared it and called it ‘delightful’, Ms Neville said on Twitter: ‘Situations like these are truly scary and I can assure you they are not delightful’.

Former footballer John Hartson also shared the disturbing footage and said: ‘What does this moron think he is achieving .. Gary with one of his family and some t*t is abusing him in public.. if you feel like you want to abuse people, go do it in front of your tv screen not in public.. Not very clever!’
Another supporter said: ‘That’s just awful and no one deserves to be subjected to such vile abuse when out in public’.
The upsetting footage has now been shared more than 1million times in 24 hours.
It begins with Gary and his wife of 19 years Emma crossing the road in the sunshine.
A man with a Mancunian accent approaches while filming and says: ‘Is that Gary Neville?’
Before he can respond he then says: ‘W***er, w***er. That’s what you are. F*ing w**er’.
Mr Neville stopped and said with a mix of exasperation and anger: ‘You what?’
The troll then snapped back: ‘Listen, I’m filming you because you’re a f**ing w*er You’ve got fk all to know about the working class man, you have. Hey, even your own fans have turned against you because you’re a f***ing p**ck’.
The attack emerged days after Gary’s Sky Sports colleague Jamie Carragher was bombarded with verbal abuse from Everton fans moments before the Merseyside derby, forcing the Liverpool legend to be ushered away.
Jamie Carragher could be seen in a heated exchange with Everton fans ahead of the Merseyside derby
Carragher, 48, was on punditry duty with Sky Sports at Hill Dickinson Stadium to watch his former side beat his boyhood club in dramatic fashion.
It looked as though the points were set to be shared in the first Merseyside derby at Everton’s new home on Albert Docks, but Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk broke the Toffees’ hearts with a 100th-minute header to secure a monumental three points for the Reds.
Before the game, moments after the teams had emerged from the tunnel, Carragher walked along the sideline heading to his position in the Sky Sports studio.
The former Liverpool defender was quickly subjected to abuse from Evertonians in the stand, with one supporter heard shouting ‘F*** off Carra, you soft c***’ before screaming ‘F*** off you k***head’.
Carragher could be seen responding to some fans in the crowd, getting involved in a brief, heated exchange, before ignoring further abuse and continuing his walk along the touchline.
