A four-bedroom house riddled with mould, missing windows and a half-collapsed ceiling has hit the market for £575,000.
The derelict property, in Maidstone, Kent, looks more like a haunted house than a dream home – though it does come with its own swimming pool albeit one that’s currently empty and damaged.
Estate agents Knight Edmonds describe the crumbling wreck as a ‘prime opportunity’ for the right investor, although they concede that it is a project ‘not for the faint-hearted’.
Photos from the listing show gaping holes where windows and doors should be, with parts of the roof covered only by canvas.
Inside, the ceilings have partially collapsed, rubble litters the floor, and the skeletal planks of the level above are on full display.
The back garden tells a similar story, with waste and building debris strewn across the site.
Even the swimming pool – a rare perk in UK homes – lies neglected, cracked and bone-dry.
Despite the shocking condition, the property is on the market for more than half a million pounds – a sign of the area’s soaring house prices and ongoing demand.
The first-floor lounge of the home has rubble on the floor, and the planks of the room above are visible due to the ceiling rotting.
Moving through the property, you can see the point where the home was left derelict, with the home being left mid-construction.
Despite this, the listing – held by Knight Edmonds – describes the home as a prime opportunity to be renovated and regenerated by a ‘serious investor equipped with the right skills and knowledge’.
Prospective buyers will need to come armed with cash as a standard mortgage is unobtainable, given the state of the building.
The website said: ‘This unusual property currently sits derelict as a major reconstruction project ground to a halt several years ago. In principle the steel framework is all in place and on site.
‘It has been signed off by building control up to foundations and for a serious investor, equipped with the right skills and knowledge could prove to be a lucrative project.’
Then speaking of the the potential they write that ‘the current plans feature an impressive 6 bedrooms, as well as considerable living space, comprising 5 spacious reception rooms.
‘The property could easily be reconfigured with some imaginative planning to incorporate an annex.’
Buyers will also need to pay £18,750 in stamp duty.
