A major fire has broken out at Warburtons bread factory, causing thick plumes of smoke to fill the sky.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire at a commercial property in Burnley just before 3pm this afternoon.

Footage shows a huge cloud of black smoke rising into the air, with nearby residents advised to keep their windows and doors shut.

Warburtons confirmed that the building was evacuated and there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage is not yet known.

David Fishwick, the real-life person behind Netflix’s Bank of Dave, was flying around the area in his helicopter when the fire broke out and took to social media to offer assistance.

‘I’m flying over Burnley, & the Warburtons factory & trucks are on Fire! The fire engines have just arrived! Let me know if you need anybody airlifted to the hospital!’ he wrote.

‘My helicopter can carry five & I’m available to help immediately! Hope everyone is safe.’
