Mohamed Salah limps off to standing ovation after hamstring injury

Mohamed Salah was given a standing ovation as his Liverpool career appeared to come to a premature end after suffering a suspected hamstring injury against Crystal Palace.

The Liverpool legend had confirmed in March that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season after a trophy-laden spell.

Salah’s swansong appears to have been cut short after the Egyptian pulled up in the 59th minute at Anfield.

The 33-year-old was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong and was given a rousing ovation by the home fans as he made his way off the pitch.

Salah was seen clutching the back of his leg as spoke to Liverpool boss Arne Slot about his injury, before making his way down the tunnel.

His departure came with Liverpool leading 2-0 as they sought to strengthen their grip on a Champions League spot.

Alexander Isak and Andrew Robertson had put the Reds in control against Crystal Palace.

Daniel Munoz pulled on back from Palace in the second half, before Florian Wirtz sealed the three points for Liverpool with a late third.

Should Salah’s injury be confirmed, it could rule him out final fixtures against some of his highest profile rivals.

Liverpool travel to Old Trafford next Sunday to face Manchester United, before hosting Salah’s former club Chelsea.

The Reds travel to Aston Villa in their penultimate game, before welcoming Brentford to Anfield on the final day.
