Brit is missing in Morocco after she was ‘last seen leaving nightclub’

A 31-year-old British woman who is missing in Morocco was last seen three days ago ‘leaving a nightclub known for drink spiking’.

Rachel Kerr, from Falkirk in Scotland, was on a work trip in the holiday resort of Agadir when she was last seen leaving Smart Nightclub at 5am last Saturday after ‘running out of money’.

The model and content creator had been staying at the Caribbean Village Hotel before she disappeared on April 25.

Ms Kerr’s family, who have launched an appeal to find her, said they had not heard from her since and that her phone has been switched off.

Her cousin, Claire Hill, said today in an online appeal: ‘My cousin is missing in Agadir, Morocco. Last known to be staying at the Caribbean Village hotel.

‘However she checked out on Saturday and we haven’t heard from her since. Her phone has been switched off.

‘We’re very concerned for her welfare and are appealing for any information on her whereabouts or who she may be in contact with out there.’

Concern was raised on social media after Ms Kerr’s last sighting at Smart Nightclub, which is described as a ‘popular dance venue in the heart of Agadir within the Hotel Agador complex’.

One person wrote online: ‘If she was frequenting Smart nightclub I would be very concerned as it has a reputation for drinks’ spiking.

‘I would definitely be getting the police involved.’

Another added: ‘Smart isn’t a good place for a young person. Hope she is found safe.’

One woman, who said she had seen Ms Kerr in Agadir the week before, wrote: ‘I met her last week when I was there.

‘Lovely girl but very confused. Spoke with her brother and his girlfriend at the airport on the way home.

‘My understanding was she was being taken to Marrakech to be deported. Sending my love to you all. This is heartbreaking.’

But a relative of Rachel’s responded: ‘She didn’t go to Marrakech and her brother had to leave.’

Sarah Lee, who also claimed to have met Rachel in Agadir while she was on holiday, said: ‘I saw her before I left as we were there at the same time and her brother came to get her.

‘She said she fell in love with a Moroccan man and he’d broken her heart. She was very emotional and frail.’

Friend of Ms Kerr, Alexis Shaw, said: ‘The police are involved. She was last seen at Smart Nightclub at 5am on Saturday morning.

‘She ran out of money completely on Friday. Please get in contact if anyone sees her as police are trying to locate her to get her home safely.’

Ms Shaw added: ‘She was due to fly home a couple of weeks ago and her brother flew out to find her, but she hid her passport as she is in a bad mental place right now.

‘Her brother had to leave and came home after a few days for work and she was refusing to come home.

‘She is no longer in the hotel and has run out of money.’

Another British holidaymaker who claimed to have met Rachel while he was out in Morocco said on Facebook in response: ‘She was out there a month ago when I was there.

‘A little Scottish girl, I was talking to her out there.’

He described her as a ‘vulnerable woman’ and added: ‘Her stay ran out then too at the hotel so she was heading into Agadir town to stay, I remember chatting to other British holidaymakers out there [about] how worried I was.

‘Then the night before her flight home, she turned up again, from staying at a flat in town. She did say someone had been coming on to her by text and that she had felt uncomfortable with it.

‘After that she flew home, so she must have gone back out there. She said she was seeing a worker, from one of the hotels out there.

‘But I heard she had seen through the worker’s story to get money out of her. She wasn’t happy about this.

‘I hope she is found okay. I told her when I was out there, that she needed to be careful and that I’d been worried about her.’

Ms Kerr is known for her travel content on social media. She has worked with brands online, promoting trips abroad, including an upcoming tour of Agadir in October.

During her time in Morocco, Ms Kerr posted on social media about the area, with her last post on Instagram on April 13.

She is also known for her modelling work, public speaking and being a published author.
