Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani has taunted Donald Trump in a live interview in Tehran as Israeli airstrikes rain down on the Iranian capital.

Larijani has joined thousands of demonstrators at a Quds Day rally in the city despite fresh Israeli attacks launched earlier today.

While being interviewed, Larijani says Israeli attacks during the demonstrations show Israel’s weakness and confusion.

He added Trump ‘didn’t realise Iran is mature and determined’ in his latest remarks directed at the US President.

Yesterday, Larijani said Trump would be ‘sorry’ for his ‘grave miscalculation’ after the President declared the US had won the war.

Explosions have rocked Dubai this morning after an Iranian drone struck the city’s financial district.

A building has been damaged in Dubai’s International Finance Centre by debris from a successful interception of an attack amid the US-Israel conflict with Iran.

Authorities confirmed there were no injuries during the latest attack on Dubai which has been repeatedly targeted with drones and missiles since the war began.

The attack on the International Finance Centre comes after banks in Dubai ordered staff to leave their offices earlier this week following a threat by Iran to target US and Israeli financial institutions.

The French soldier killed in Iraq after a drone attack on an air base has been pictured.

Arnaud Frion, Chief Warrant Officer of the 7th Battalion of Chasseurs Alpins from Varces, died and five others were injured following a major fire in Erbil.

Posting his tribute on X, Macron said: ‘To his family, to his brothers in arms, I want to express all the affection and solidarity of the Nation. Several of our soldiers have been wounded. France stands by their side and with their loved ones.

‘This attack against our forces engaged in the fight against Daesh since 2015 is unacceptable. Their presence in Iraq is part of the strict framework of the fight against terrorism. The war in Iran cannot justify such attacks.’

The UK will not follow the US in easing sanctions on Russian oil, a minister insisted today.

Energy minister Michael Shanks warned against doing anything that will help Vladimir Putin’s ‘war machine’ against Ukraine.

The comments came after Donald Trump’s administration issued a temporary waiver lifting restrictions on the purchase of Russian oil and petrol already at sea.

The decision comes amid rising alarm at the fallout from the US-Israeli war against Iran, which has limited supplies and sent energy prices spiking around the globe.

The announcement was welcomed by Russia, which is thought to have around 100million barrels of oil currently in transit.

Donald Trump has angered European leaders after the President temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil in an attempt to bring down energy prices.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said, ‘we think that’s wrong’ as he reacted to the move alongside Norwegian Prime Minster Jonas Gahr Støre.

‘There is currently a price problem, but not a supply problem. And in that regard, I would like to know what other factors led the U.S. government to make this decision.’

Merz said the US decision came as a surprise after G7 leaders urged him to refrain from easing pressure on Moscow amid fears it could strengthen Russia’s position against Ukraine

We want to ensure that Russia does not exploit the war in Iran to weaken Ukraine. Nor will we allow Moscow to test NATO on its eastern flank and up here in the north,’ Merz added.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the temporary waiver was agreed as a ‘short-term measure’ until April 11 to promote ‘stability in global energy markets’.

British nationals in the UAE have been warned that sharing images of missile damage could result in going to prison or being deported.

The British embassy posted a warning on its X page earlier today after a drone attack on Dubai’s International Finance Centre this morning.

The statement reads: ‘UAE authorities warn against photographing, posting, or sharing images of incident sites or projectile damage as well as government buildings and diplomatic missions. British nationals are subject to UAE laws, violations may lead to fines, imprisonment, or deportation.’

The Daily Mail has previously reported how Dubai-based influencers are sharing identical videos and texts praising the city’s rulers leading some to speculate whether they have been paid by the state.

Once a tax-free haven attracting social media stars and countless Brits seeking warm weather and crime-free streets, Dubai’s carefully crafted image has been shattered and some residents believe it is ‘finished’.

Thousands have fled the war-torn city, vowing to never return as the Islamic Republic sends barrages of missiles and suicide drones at glitzy skyscrapers and glamorous five star hotels, even striking the world famous Fairmont hotel on Palm Jumeirah.

Bustling beaches and bars, usually occupied by British expats including Rio and Kate Ferdinand, Luisa Zissman and Petra Ecclestone, have been abandoned as the exodus from the emirate accelerates.

On Friday, as explosions rocked the city, with debris from Iranian drones damaging buildings in the heart of the financial district, Dubai was desolate.

Petrol prices have soared as the Iran war continues to threaten the global supply chain, with the Chancellor to meet energy bosses for crisis talks today.

The average price of diesel reached 158.24p on Friday, while petrol hit 140.15p per litre.

It comes as oil surged to more than $100 per barrel on Thursday, the second time fuel has reached the grim milestone in recent days, with fears the conflict will lead to higher energy prices and drive inflation for families in the UK.

Since the outbreak of war in the Middle East between Iran and the US and Israel, the Islamic Republic has ‘closed’ the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane through which around a fifth of all global oil and liquid gas travels.

Iran has threatened all vessels passing through the strait and conducted a series of drone strikes on tankers, with six assaults in the last 24 hours, according to UK Maritime Trade Operations centre.

Iran’s state television is reporting that shrapnel from an air strike has killed an Iranian mother attending the Quds Day rally in Tehran.

Press TV reported the woman was near Valiasr Square, where the demonstration is taking place, when she was fatally wounded.

The report comes shortly after explosions were heard near major streets where demonstrators are rallying for Quds Day in the capital.

Turkey’s defence ministry said a ballistic missile from Iran had been shot down in Turkish airspace by NATO defences, in the third such incident in just over a week.

‘A ballistic munition launched from Iran and entering Turkish airspace was neutralised by NATO air and missile defence assets deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean,’ a ministry statement said.
