Bulgaria wins first ever Eurovision trophy

Bulgaria have tonight been crowned the winners of Eurovision for the first time after a pulling off a stunning victory in Vienna.

Dara’s surprise hit Bangaranga finished the contest with a total of 516 points, ahead of Israel’s Noam Bettan, with the song Michelle, on 343 points.

Romania’s Alexandra Capitanescu, with the song Choke Me, finished third on 296 points.

The UK endured another miserable Eurovision year as Look Mum No Computer received no points from the public vote to finish in last place with just one point.

Now in its 70th year, Eurovision was marked by a troubling build up as five nations; Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland and Slovenia, boycotted the contest over Israel’s participation.
