From over-the-top ruffles and shocking nearly-nude looks to clashing patterns and weirdly-shaped frocks, the 2025 ESPY Awards have been filled with a slew of sartorial nightmares and fashion fails.
The event, which is being hosted by comedian and actor Shane Gillis, kicked off at 8pm EST/5pm PST and is streaming live on ABC and ESPN+.
It is set to honor the biggest sports stars from the last year, and a slew of top athletes have descended upon the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, ahead of the ceremony.
And while some wowed in glamorous dresses and stunning ensembles… others completely missed the mark with their looks.
That’s right, many sports stars failed to impress with their bizarre outfit choices at the glittering soiree.
Gymnast Jordan Chiles lead the worst dressed list at the 2025 ESPY Awards in a curious, checkered mini dress that had a slew of weirdly-shaped cut-outs in the chest area.
The eyebrow-raising number resembled some sort of sun hat and stuck out on both sides – and it was so short if left very little to imagination.
Basketball star Rae Burrell hit the red carpet in a strangely patterned gray and black dress, which she paired with a dramatic and oversized shawl.
Fitness influencer Katie Austin shocked by wearing a completely sheer skirt that left her underwear on full display, along with an itty-bitty sparkly bra.
Wrestler and mixed martial artist Daria Berenato arrived in a pair of leather pants and crop top that had pieces of fabric hanging off of it and a metal ring.
American rugby player Ilona Maher donned a black gown that only had thin pieces of fabric covering her assets on the top half.
Track and field star Chari Hawkins’s excessive white ruffled dress ensured all eyes would be on her… for the wrong reasons.
Alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn’s brown’s strapless gown looked more like a curtain wrapped around her than a dress, and the slit was way too high.
Basketball player Flau’jae Johnson wore a weird ensemble that resembled a metal grate. On the side, the fabric was tied into a giant knot… and it was not flattering.
Designer Kristin Juszczyk had on a silky off-white gown but the corset top and belt paired together totally clashed.
Runner Gabby Thomas looked awkward in her a one-shoulder white frock that had feathered trimmings.
She completed the look with a matching scarf, and there were just way too many feathers if you ask us.
Rapper Tobe Nwigwe’s wife Fat Nwigwe was seen in a peculiar tiered dress that had ruffles on each layer and hung awkwardly on her fame.
Flag football player and Olympic athlete Diana Flores opted for an all-white suit that contained an enormous and bizarre piece of fabric hanging off the side.
Host Shane made the worst dressed list thanks to his a plain – and boring – black suit.
Sports journalist Kendra Andrews was seen walking the carpet in a black turtleneck body suit and a skirt that looked like it was hanging off.
