Erling Haaland celebrates Leeds win over Manchester United

Erling Haaland has toasted Leeds’ win over Manchester United after the Man City star watched his childhood club earn their first top flight scalp at Old Trafford in 45 years.

Daniel Farke’s side stunned the Red Devils with a blistering display to take a huge step towards Premier League survival on Monday night, with the hosts unable to overturn a two-goal deficit following Noah Okafor’s first half brace.

Monday’s win puts the Yorkshire club on 36 points, six clear of 18th-placed Tottenham Hotspur with six league matches remaining. Opta have given Farke’s men a mere two per cent chance of relegation following their win over United.

And Haaland was among the Leeds masses celebrating their mammoth victory, with the Norweigian posting ‘get in’ alongside a picture of the full time scenes on his television at his Cheshire home.

Haaland, who was born in Leeds and grew up as a supporter of the club, is the son of Alf-Inge Haaland, who spent three years at Elland Road.

Haaland was born in Leeds and grew up as a supporter of the club. He said in 2017 his dream is to win the Premier League title at Elland Road

Speaking in 2017, while at Molde, Haaland outlined his big dream of winning the Premier League title with his boyhood club.

‘I want to be the best. The dream is to win the Premier League with Leeds,’ he told Aftenposten.

‘In addition, the goal is to be a better player than Dad was. I hope to get more international matches than he did.’

A jubilant Farke said at full time: ‘We should have been more than 2-0 up in the first half, if I’m honest.

‘Sometimes a red card can change something. We fell asleep at one set-piece and then it’s more the Man Utd way and it’s difficult to bring it over the line as a newly promoted side.

‘To get a first win here in whatever it is, 40 years, is amazing and of course a big step forward.’
