Egypt chief names two huge clubs who have made offers to Mohamed Salah

An Egypt official has revealed European giants Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have made offers to sign Mohamed Salah next season.

Salah will leave Liverpool after nine years in the summer when his £400,000-a-week contract is ripped up just a year after he signed it.

The forward revealed the news in an emotional video last week, as he missed jetting off to Egypt for international duty, where his side have taken on Saudi Arabia before a clash with Spain on Tuesday, due to injury.

In the Egypt camp, however, national team director Ibrahim Hassan revealed that the two clubs have offered Salah a team for next season, as he called for the 33-year-old to reject a move to America.

‘Personally, I would prefer him to stay in Europe,’ Hassan told ON Sport. ‘I have heard of offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and clubs from Italy.

‘A move to MLS? He would be far out of the spotlight. You won’t remember him any more than I remember Lionel Messi now.’

Luis Enrique's Paris Saint-Germain are also interested

There has been plenty of speculation about where the Liverpool great will ply his trade next year, and whether he will continue to compete at the highest level in Europe or move to the likes of Saudi Arabia or the United States.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad made a verbal offer of £150m to Liverpool in 2023, and remain in the market to replace Karim Benzema, who left in January.

Whether Salah would be keen to move to the Middle East, though, which is currently at war, is another question.

His future is far from settled, though, as his agent Ramy Abbas Issa stated last week.

‘We don’t know yet where Mohamed will play next season,’ he said. ‘That means no one else knows.’

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, hailed Salah last week, having worked with the Egyptian for seven of his nine years at Anfield.

The German revealed that he and Salah texted earlier on in the week, and wished his former star well for the rest of the season, insisting: ‘I know he can only enjoy it if he wins and he scores. I really hope on the last match day you will all have a smile on your face and all be happy and thankful you were part of one of the most incredible careers we will be a part of.’

Speaking on working with Salah, who Klopp won a plethora of trophies with, including the Premier League and the Champions League, he added: ‘It was a joy, a challenge, it was hard work from both sides, it was an incredible outcome, it was pretty much everything.

‘I am pretty sure there was a day in Mo’s life where he dreamt of something like that – I couldn’t imagine that something like this is possible, the numbers he produced, the performances he showed, some of them will be unmatched forever.’
