Dame Joan Collins dazzles at charity gala with husband Percy Gibson

Dame Joan Collins displayed her age-defying looks as she and her husband Percy Gibson attended a Summer Evening Gala hosted by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices at The Ivy Chelsea Garden on Tuesday.

The legendary actress, 92, and her beloved husband, 61, joined a host of star-studded guests to help raise vital funds for terminally ill children across London and Surrey.

Known for always oozing Hollywood glamour, Joan looked as chic as ever in a white satin tuxedo-style jacket with a rose pinned to the lapel.

Underneath she sported a plain black shirt with leather edging and matching smart trousers, completing her look with her usual voluminous curls and a dark red lip for a pop of colour.

The Dynasty star put on a smitten display with her producer husband, who cut a dapper figure in a white button-up shirt, black slacks and a camel blazer.

Originally from Peru, Percy is a noted Hollywood producer, known primarily for producing Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

While he is 32 years younger than Joan, she has dismissed their age gap in interviews with the witty line: ‘If he dies, he dies.’

The couple were joined at the charity event by a host of famous faces, including Strictly Come Dancing star Bruno Tonioli.

The ballroom judge caught the eye in a mesh vest and white trousers with a grey blazer adorned in a colourful floral design.

Fellow actress and two-time Oscar nominee Brenda Blethyn, 80, was also in attendance, looking very youthful in a stylish shirt dress.

While TV personality Lizzie Cundy put on a daring display in a plunging yellow gown with a thigh-high slit, showing off her cleavage and long legs.

Joan’s glam outing comes after she declared she would ‘never dream’ of using weight-loss drugs because of the ‘disastrous’ effects on people’s looks.

Weight loss drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy have become popular in recent years with millions of people taking them to lose weight.

But Golden Globe winner insisted she won’t be following suit and thinks people who want to lose a few pounds should simply ‘cut down’ instead.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, she said: ‘I don’t believe in needles and things. I’ve never had Botox or anything in my face.’

On Ozempic, she added: ‘I’d never dream of doing something like that. I have seen too many disastrous faces.

‘I think if you’re going to lose weight, you have to cut down. You want to enjoy your life. You don’t want to live on a celery stick.’

Joan and Percy tied the knot in February 2002 at Claridge’s Hotel in London – making him the longest-lasting of all five of her husbands, all of whom have been well-documented over the years.

Poking fun at her previous tumultuous love life, she joked to Jonathan Ross in 2020 that her marriage to Percy had run as long as the previous four marriages combined.

Her first husband, Maxwell Reed was an Irish actor who she married in 1952, when she was 19 and he was 33.

Following a two-year separation, they divorced in 1956, and she dated producer Arthur Loew Jr. for two years, before finding love with a then-unknown Warren Beatty.

The two became engaged in 1960, but his alleged affairs broke them apart the following year.

She then married singer-songwriter Anthony Newley in 1963, with whom she shares children Tara, 62, and Alexander, 60, before divorcing in 1971.

Joan then married former Beatles manager Ron Kass in 1972 and welcomed their daughter Katyana, 53, before divorcing in May 1983.

Her fourth husband was former singer Peter Holm in 1985, which lasted just 13 months and resulted in a fall out with her sister Jackie who did not like him.

She met Percy on the set of the play Love Letters, which he produced, in 2000 and instantly sparked up a connection, bonding over their ‘shared values’.

Writing in Daily Mail in 2018, she recalled: ‘We hit it off immediately. He was funny, engaging, good-looking, and after the show I would socialize with him, my co-star, George Hamilton, and my daughter, Katy. We had a lorra lorra laughs and bonded like family.’

‘Although Percy is three decades younger than me, it didn’t matter as the camaraderie between us grew during that six-week theatre tour.’

Joan confessed after her acrimonious divorce from Peter she had ‘declared that I never wanted to marry again’ which she stuck to until she met Percy.

‘Ultimately, friendship, mutual respect, values and understanding are what binds a relationship,’ she said. ‘Percy and I were lucky as we worked together first and became friends who lusted for each other from afar.’

She concluded by declaring that Percy was her ‘soulmate’ and ‘best friend’, gushing: ‘As Percy said on the day that we married, we are each other’s “accomplices in mischief, comrades in arms, confessors, confidants, fearless leaders and loyal supporters, and very best of friends”.

‘He is my soulmate and my rock. When we decided to marry, my gut instinct told me this was the man for life for me – and luckily it has come true.’
