Palace stars enjoy BIG night out – and it could be bad news for Spurs

Crystal Palace stars were seen joining fans in Florence on a night out following their Conference League victory, days before a Premier League match that could be crucial in the relegation battle.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson was seen dancing on the streets of the Italian city, with members of the squad and fans chanting to celebrate their success.

The Eagles booked their place in the Conference League semi-finals after overcoming Fiorentina over two legs.

Palace had led 3-0 from the first leg heading into the tie in Florence, with their progression to the last four assured despite losing the second leg 2-1.

After the game, the Palace squad were granted a night out by head coach Oliver Glasner.

‘The players asked me if they can go out tonight,’ Glasner said post-match, when asked to compare his Palace side to the Eintracht Frankfurt team he led to Europa League glory in 2022.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed he had granted his players the night out, mirroring what he had done with Eintracht Frankurt en route to winning the Europa League in 2022

‘This was the same that the Frankfurt players asked me after winning the quarter-final.

‘I agreed a few years ago that the players can go out and I agreed tonight that the players can go out.

‘That is exactly the same and I hope the ending of the story will be exactly the same.’

After winning their Europa League quarter-final against Barcelona in 2022, Glasner’s Frankfurt side were beaten 2-0 by Union Berlin three days later in the Bundesliga.

Several clubs involved in the relegation battle will be hoping Palace do not suffer a repeat in the coming days.

Glasner’s side will next be in action on Monday, when they host West Ham at Selhurst Park.

The Hammers are currently two points above Tottenham, who lie in the bottom three and are trying to avoid a shock relegation to the Championship.

Nottingham Forest and Leeds are also involved in the relegation scrap, with the two sides currently three and six points clear of the drop.

Forest also progressed in Europe on Thursday night, with Vitor Pereira’s side overcoming Porto 2-1 on aggregate to set-up a semi-final with Aston Villa in the Europa League.

Pereira was insistent post-match that his Forest players had no time for celebrating, with the focus having to immediately shift back to their Premier League survival bid.

‘It starts now in the dressing room, after this game we start to speak about the next game, we don’t have time to celebrate,’ he said.

‘Time to recover, come back again, mentally strong. I prefer to come with a win – the motivation is different.

‘It will be a tough game, we need our supporters again. We need to go again as a family.’

Leeds host rock bottom Wolves on Saturday in the first of the matches involving teams embroiled in the relegation battle.

Tottenham will then seek to move out of the bottom three in Roberto De Zerbi’s first home match in charge, which comes against his former side Brighton.

Nottingham Forest host Burnley on Sunday, before West Ham take on Crystal Palace in a London derby at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
