Birthday party preparations got underway at Coleen Rooney and husband Wayne’s £20million Cheshire mansion ahead of the WAG’s 40th.

The couple have installed a giant marquee in their front garden, kitted out with outdoor heaters for the Easter weekend bash.

The TV personality, who turns 40 on April 3, is marking the milestone celebration with a series of events in the run up.

‘I’m looking forward to it. I love a birthday and a celebration’, she told OK! magazine.

‘I have decided to enjoy a couple of different celebrations with family and friends over the year and with my birthday falling over Easter weekend, some friends are away – so any opportunity to extend the celebrations.’

Their vast home is believed to boast a snooker room, a home cinema, a wine cellar and a football pitch, leaving its occupants rarely short of a way to pass the time.

Coleen and Wayne, 40, moved into the mansion five years ago, with the sports star rumoured to have splashed out £4million for the 50 acres of old farmland in 2017.

The house is located in the famous Golden Triangle of land in the area, which incorporates some of the region’s smartest postcodes and plays host to plenty of football players, TV icons and musicians.

Coleen, who shares Kia, 16, Klay, 12, Kit, 10 and Cass, eight, with Wayne kicked off half term with a weekend at Disneyland Paris to visit the theme park’s new World of Frozen.

Coleen first shot to fame aged 16 when childhood sweetheart Wayne was signed for Everton football club.

Despite meeting her future husband aged 12 in the Liverpool suburb of Croxteth, it has not been smooth sailing for Coleen, who has publicly battled through Wayne’s notorious brothel visits and escort scandal.

Coleen previously broke her silence on Wayne’s past infidelities in an interview with British Vogue as she admitted their marriage was ‘battle at times.’

Scandal reared its head early on in the pair’s relationship, when it hit headlines in 2004 that Wayne had visited three prostitutes as a teenager two years prior.

It was discovered that Wayne, who was 16, had paid £140 for sex with prostitute Charlotte Glover, 21.

It was also claimed that at a brothel in Liverpool he slept with Gina McCarrick, then 37, and grandmother Patricia Tierney, then 48, who wore a rubber catsuit and was known as the ‘Auld Slapper’.

Coleen stood by her man but didn’t comment publicly on the claims – though later admitted that when the scandal came out, she hadn’t yet slept with Wayne herself.

Speaking about the incident in 2023, Coleen said they had had ‘screaming matches’ over his infidelity and she ‘couldn’t even speak to him’ when he first told her the story was about to break to the press.

Away from the difficulties in her marriage, Coleen has also suffered devastating grief as her late sister, Rosie, passed away 13 years ago at the age of just 14.

Rosie passed away following a lifelong battle with Rett syndrome, a rare brain disorder that causes severe disabilities.

The disorder affects physical movement and can manifest in various symptoms in each individual case.

Rosie was taken in as a foster child by Coleen’s parents, bricklayer Tony and Colette, a former nursery nurse, when she was two.

Although they were aware she was disabled, they did not know the full extent of her condition, which has no cure.

Coleen has always been very open about her younger sister and in 2024 spoke about how her family always knew ‘Rosie was different’.

The WAG made the comment in her Wagatha Christie Disney+ documentary where she explained: ‘When Rosie came along, she was a massive part of our lives. She was the sister that I never thought I was going to have.’

Speaking to her mother and her father, Tony, she continued: ‘I used to do her hair and used to love picking clothes with my mum for her.

‘She brought that little bit extra to the house. We fell in love with her.’

Coleen’s documentary was titled Wagatha Christie because the star has also endured a very public court battle with her former friend and fellow WAG, Rebekah Vardy. 44.

The catalyst for the famous case was a dramatic open letter written by Coleen and posted on social media in October 2019 in which she revealed she had turned detective to figure out who had been leaking the stories.

Coleen publicly claimed Rebekah’s account was the source behind three newspaper stories featuring fake details she had posted on her private Instagram profile.

They included her travelling to Mexico for a ‘gender selection’ procedure, her planning to return to TV and the basement flooding at her home.

Penning that she had a ‘suspicion’ of who it could be, Coleen told her millions of followers that ‘to try and prove this’ she ‘came up with an idea’.

‘I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except ONE account,’ she wrote.

For the next five months, she uploaded ‘a series of false stories’ to see if ‘they made their way’ into the press.

Away from the difficulties in her marriage, Coleen has also suffered devastating grief as her late sister, Rosie, passed away 13 years ago at the age of just 14

‘And you know what, they did!’ she penned ‘The story about gender selection in Mexico, the story about returning to TV and then the latest story about the basement flooding in my new house.’

She continued to build suspense, writing: ‘It’s been tough keeping it to myself and not making any comment at all, especially when the stories have been leaked, however, I had to. Now I know for certain which account/individual it’s come from.

‘I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person had viewed them.’

And then, she delivered her final iconic line: ‘It’s………. Rebekah Vardy’s account.’

In June 2020, Rebekah began legal proceedings against Coleen for libel, with her lawyers alleging she had ‘suffered extreme distress, hurt, anxiety and embarrassment as a result of the publication of the post and the events which followed’.

After years of deliberations in court proceedings, the showdown was settled after the court ruling did not go in her favour and settled on a seven-figure sum.

The WAG agreed to pay £1,190,000 of Coleen’s legal bill, plus was ordered to pay a further £212,266 in assessment costs, after sensationally losing their high-profile libel case.

Breaking her silence following the closing of the case, she wrote: ‘The ruling yesterday in my favour finally brings this claim to an end, it’s a relief and brings closure for my family and I.

‘Throughout this long process, I am grateful that the judgments have consistently gone my way. However, as I have always maintained, this claim did not need to be made or run for as long as it did.

‘The time and money should have been put to better use. I want to thank my legal representatives, management, friends and family for their guidance and constant support.

‘Thanks also to the public and many well-wishers who have been in touch with such kind messages. This episode is not something I ever wanted in my life however, I am thankful for the way my family and team have dealt with it. We look forward to moving on with our lives.’
