Chris Martin STOPS concert to send love to Charlie Kirk’s family

Chris Martin halted his concert at Wembley Stadium to send love to Charlie Kirk’s family.

The 48-year-old Coldplay singer – whose band is ‘set to make history with record-breaking 225-date world tour’ – encouraged fans to raise their hands for the late political activist during the group’s final tour concert at Wembley Stadium on Friday.

Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday when he was fatally shot in the neck while speaking to students at Utah Valley University.

In a now-viral clip on X, Martin could be seen addressing the crowd of 80,000 people and said, ‘For the final time in a few years in London let’s raise our hands like this and send love anywhere you wanna send it in the world.’

The Viva La Vida hitmaker then placed his hands into the air, with most of the audience doing the same.

‘And there are so many places that might need it today. So, here it comes from London. You can send this to your brother or sister, you can send it to the families of people who’ve been going through terrible stuff. You can send it to Charlie Kirk’s family.’

The star continued, ‘You can send it to anyone’s family. You can send it to people you disagree with, but you send them love anyway.

‘You can send it to peaceful people in the Middle East and Ukraine and Russia. Azerbaijan and Sudan and Somalia. Anywhere you think might need love from London.’

Martin then began to count down from five as the crowd held their hands up into the air before beginning to play another song from the band’s set.

Fans jumped to the comment section of the reel to offer their differing thoughts on the singer asking the crowd to ‘send love’ to Kirk’s family.

Some applauded the performer with one penning, ‘Wow. I’m actually impressed,’ and another said, ‘Coldplay with the W recently.’

‘It’s nice to see Coldplay be rational and show kindness towards Charlie Kirk and his family. I know they are leftists, but at least they aren’t vile,’ a fan wrote.

Another added, ‘Chris Martin’s gesture puts the focus on compassion,’ while one typed out, ‘So glad he said that.’

‘Respect!’ an X user shared, while another commented, ‘That’s powerful. When someone like Chris Martin pauses a massive show to call for compassion, it reminds us that grief should unite us not divide us.’

Coldplay was on its Music of the Spheres World Tour which officially came to an end at Wembley Stadium in London on Friday.

Martin’s message to the crowd comes shortly after he was accused of ‘dehumanizing’ Jewish fans who were booed for being Israeli on stage during a performance at Wembley Stadium.

Kirk is survived by his wife Erika as well as their two children: a three-year-old daughter and a son, one.

The widow of the Turning Point USA co-founder vowed to continue her late husband’s legacy during an emotional broadcast on Friday.

Kirk had been on his American Comeback tour before his tragic passing this week and Erika promised that, ‘There will be even more tours in the years to come.’

She continued, ‘It will be greater than ever. The radio and podcast show that he was so proud of will go on.’

The mother-of-two also promised to remember Kirk as a ‘martyr’ and expressed, ‘Charlie will stand at his savior’s side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr.’

Erika also tearfully said, ‘He loved his life. He loved America. He loved nature, which helped him always bring him closer to God. He loved the Chicago Cubs and, my goodness, did he love the Oregon Ducks.

‘Most of all, Charlie loved his children, and he loved me with all of his heart, and I knew that every day.’

Following her address, Erika posted to her Instagram account as she mourned the loss of her husband.

Erika continued, ‘They have no idea what they just ignited within this wife. If they thought my husband’s mission was big now..you have no idea. You. All of you. Will never. Ever. Forget my husband @charliekirk1776 I’ll make sure of it.

‘Rest in the arms of our Lord baby as he blankets you with the words I know your heart always strived to hear, “well done My good and faithful servant.”‘
