Chelsea star Alejandro Garnacho shows off huge new ‘Joker’ back tattoo

Chelsea star Alejandro Garnacho has unveiled an eye-catching new tattoo across his back.

Garnacho, 21, has lots of artwork on his body, with many of his tattoos inspired by pop culture and his faith.

This includes one on his left hand of actress Millie Bobby Brown following her role in Stranger Things, while he also has artwork honouring famous TV show Prison Break and Japanese cartoon series Captain Tsubasa.

And now, Garnacho has added more ink, which features Heath Ledger’s iconic portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight.

The bold new tattoo covers his entire back and it was done by renowned tattoo artist Joaquin Ganga, who is based in Los Angeles.

Ganga has previously worked with the likes of Drake, LeBron James and Post Malone, and estimates suggest that artwork of this ilk would cost thousands of pounds and take in multiple sessions.

Garnacho has previously expressed his fandom for the Joker and in the tattoo the character is also holding a playing card and the notorious phrase ‘why so serious?’ is also inked on his body.

Ganga shared a video of the work that had gone into the tattoo on Instagram and added the caption: ‘Full back cover up the Joker for @garnacho7. With my team @nopain.by.ganga.’

Garnacho also has the word ‘Valiente’ tattooed on the side of his head, Spanish for ‘brave’, while his neck piece reads ‘Nunca es suerte, siempre es Dios’.

That translates as ‘It’s never luck, it’s always God.’

He similarly has a tattoo of a young child wearing a No 7 shirt, and paid homage to his desire to inherit that number while at Man United before his £40million move to Chelsea last year.

Garnacho’s latest tattoo comes following what was a disappointing campaign for the winger.

Chelsea felt they had picked up a bargain when he joined from United after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim.

However, he struggled for consistency during his first campaign at Stamford Bridge and scored just one Premier League goal, with many Blues supporters left frustrated by his output.

Garnacho’s lack of form also saw him miss out on a spot in Argentina’s World Cup squad, with the last of his eight international caps coming back in November 2024.
