Charlize Theron rules out sharing her home with a future partner

Charlize Theron has ruled out the possibility of living with another partner for the foreseeable future while she prioritises her responsibilities as a mother of two young children.

The actress, a parent to adopted daughters Jackson, 14, and August, 11, is currently single following high profile relationships with Hollywood star Sean Penn, Third Eye Blind singer Stephan Jenkins, and Irish actor Stuart Townsend.

But Theron says she can’t see  herself embracing another traditional relationship, despite both of her children actively encouraging her to go on casual dates.

‘My kids are at an age now where they actually enjoy that I’m dating because they want to be involved,’ the actress, 50, explained during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

‘It’s really funny how I was scared they’d be threatened by it, and now they’re like: “Mom, is he texting you? Like, go on the date, mom.”‘

She added: ‘I really mean this – people think I joke – I don’t think I could ever live with somebody again. I would love for you to be close, like buy the house down the street, but I don’t know if I can.’

However, Theron said she may change her mind about living arrangements once her two girls have left home.

She said: ‘Maybe it’s because I still have my daughters in the house, and maybe that will change when I’m an empty nester, but I’m looking for something very specific.’

The actress’s admission comes after she confessed having sex with a 26-year-old in a candid interview for the Call Her Daddy podcast.

‘I’ve probably had three one-night stands in my entire life. But I did just recently f*** a 26-year-old and it was really f*****g amazing,’ Charlize said.

The mother-of-two added: ‘I’ve never done that. And I was like, “Oh, this is great. OK.”

Theron said that she was ‘having the kind of sex I never had in my twenties or in my thirties.’

She added: ‘That part has been really exciting. But I’m not missing a relationship. I’m not missing the partnership that I think you miss when you’re me.’

Theron adopted Jackson in 2012 and August three years later.

The Oscar-winner previously admitted she always saw herself adopting children because of her upbringing in South Africa.

She told PEOPLE: ‘Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day.

‘This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first.’

She also explained how race factors into raising her girls in the US in an interview with ELLE magazine, saying: ‘Being raised during the apartheid era in South Africa made me so hyper-aware of equality and human rights.

‘Of course, I have two black kids, but that was always something I was passionate about. I don’t even know how to talk about the last year under our new administration.

‘But racism is much more alive and well than people thought. We can’t deny it anymore. We have to be vocal.

‘There are places in this country where, if I got a job, I wouldn’t take it. I wouldn’t travel with my kids to some parts of America, and that’s really problematic.’
