An inquest into the death of tattoo artist and model Charlie Edwards has heard that his cause of death is still unknown.
The 26-year-old was the ex-boyfriend of Rivals and Inbetweeners star Emily Atack.
In a touching tribute last month, the TV personality, 36, said she ‘can only hope and pray that you have found some peace’ as she paid tribute to her ‘friend’.
She described Charlie as ‘funny, smart, talented and caring.’
Emily shared a picture of the pair to Instagram. In the photo, Mr Edawards was grinning at the camera as Emily held onto his shoulder.
The pair remained good friends following their split, with Emily revealing in her tribute they would talk ‘hours on end on the phone’.
She wrote: ‘This is devastating to write. Charlie you were my friend. You were ALWAYS there for me. You dropped everything so many times to come and be with me.
‘We talked for hours on end on the phone about absolutely everything. We helped each other.’
She added: ‘You were funny, SO smart, so talented and caring. I can only hope and pray that you have found some peace.
‘My heart breaks for your family who will forever be so proud of you. Beautiful boy, beautiful soul. I’m so so sorry. Rest in peace Charlie.’
At Grimsby Town Hall, Assistant Coroner for Greater Lincolnshire, Jane Eatock, formally opened the inquest into Mr Edward’s death.
She said the self-employed tattoo artist was found at the studio on Wilton Road, Humberston on March 24.
Miss Eatock said a post mortem examination was carried out but said the cause of death was ‘yet to be determined.’
The assistant coroner opened and adjourned the inquest to a date in September.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate his life at Grimsby Crematorium on Friday, May 1, at 2.15 pm.
They welcomed floral tributes and said donations can be made to The Andy’s Man Club or The Fisherman’s Mission via their respective websites.
The renowned artist’s artwork was liked by US rapper, Post Malone.
He previously ran a business with his brother Jack, called Ravens Retreat and campaigned to remove the stigma of body art.
Mr Edwards previously told the Grimsby Telegraph: ‘Some people are wary that having a tattoo might affect them getting jobs.’
He added there was less stigma and he said he always made sure the client he tattooed had something they have chosen and they can see and talk about what it is they want.
He said: ‘I never do walk-ins or people that you see having drunken holiday tattoos and possibly regret it later.’
The comedian split from the model after her hectic work schedule and strict Covid-19 rules made it difficult for them to see each other.
It was first revealed that the pair were an item back in October 2021, but the couple ended their romance after just three months.
A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Emily’s work schedule has been busy lately and she’s had to really focus on making that work.
‘She was really into Charlie, who is obviously very handsome, and there was a good spark there, but it’s definitely over.’
The Celebrity Juice star was said to have been ‘totally taken with’ the tattooed model after they met through mutual friends.
A friend previously said: ‘Emily seems totally taken with Charlie and he’s really into her. They met through a mutual friend.’
Their romance was revealed in October after they were spotted packing on the PDA during a night out in London.
Friends told The Sun at the time that the Inbetweeners star was wooed by Charlie on Instagram before they started dating.
