Fans of Pitt took to social media to rave about his grungy character.
‘This is the Brad Pitt I like, with tats and stubble, thank you, and more please,’ wrote a fan on Reddit.
‘Hunk-ola I say, I love that he looks like a beat up military man, this is perfect for him,’ said a fan on X.
Several people commented on his costar as well: the dog. ‘Dog steal the film 100%, sorry Brad,’ noted one while another shared, ‘WC Fields famously said, “Never work with children or animals” because they steal the screen.’
There was also high praise for the German shepherd: ‘And the Oscar goes to… the dog in Heart Of The Beast.’
According to GQ magazine, the combat dog named Odin is played by a real-life rescue dog named Uber from New Zealand. Uber’s three sons were cast as his stand-ins for the film.
The first trailer for the film directed by David Ayer was released on Thursday.
The last time these two worked together was on the acclaimed 2014 World War II drama Fury.

Pitt works hard to plan their path out of the Alaskan wilderness
The trailer opens with the army veteran enjoying the beauty of Alaska as he plays with his dog in a field and shares stories with a male friend by a campfire.
But then Pitt finds himself stranded in the harsh Alaskan wilderness following a horrible plane crash.
His sole companion is Odin, the retired military combat dog.
Though man and dog face several dangerous road bumps on their way back to civilization, the story is really about confronting past trauma.
The movie was filmed on location in New Zealand which stood in for Alaska. Costars include J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe.
Heart Of The Beast debuts on September 25, 2026, in theaters worldwide.
