Barron Trump ‘marriage proposal’ amid Greenland row gets viral support

It looks like one social media user has figured out a simple solution for world peace – and that’s marrying off President Donald Trump’s son, Barron Trump, 19, to Princess Isabella of Denmark, 18, in order to solve the Greenland row.

Over the past few months, Trump has been intent on buying Greenland, a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark.

It’s caused a huge rift among lawmakers and the Danish government, as the White House has threatened to invade Greenland, including by way of a military operation.

However, all of this discussion may not even be necessary, according to X (formerly Twitter) user @cinecitta2030, who suggested that Barron marry Princess Isabella as a ‘diplomatic solution.’

‘The simple diplomatic solution is Barron Trump marries Princess Isabella of Denmark and Greenland is given to America as dowry payment,’ the user joked in a post on X this week that has since gained over six million views.

A member of the Danish Royal Family, Princess Isabella is the oldest daughter of King Frederik and Queen Mary, and she’s second in line to the throne.

The hilarious suggestion took off on X, as many users seemed to approve of the idea.

‘He is handsome and smart, she is beautiful and smart. Sounds like a great deal,’ one person wrote.

Another agreed, ‘An elegant solution.’

‘This is how we used to do it,’ someone else joked.

One user typed, ‘That’s some brilliant out-of-the-box thinking!’

‘Barron needs to take one for the team!’ one person wrote.

Other X users, however, were not so thrilled by this fantastical idea.

‘That is not geopolitics, that is medieval fan-fiction. Greenland is not a bargaining chip, Princess Isabella of Denmark is not a pawn, and Barron Trump is not a diplomatic tool. Nations are not exchanged through marriages, this is not the 1400s,’ someone commented.

Another seconded, ‘We ain’t living in the 17th century… So STFU.’

The joke comes as United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to meet with Danish officials next week about Greenland.

His comments came in a briefing by top White House officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine, over the operation to capture Nicolas Maduro and the plans for Venezuela’s future.

Rubio made the statement after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer asked whether Trump planned to use the military in other parts of the globe, such as Mexico and Greenland, a source told the Journal.

In a Truth Social post on Wednesday morning, the President ripped into ‘fans’ of the post-WWII military alliance with a reminder that ‘most weren’t paying their bills’ – just two percent of their GDP on defense, well short of the five percent target set last summer at the Hague.

‘Until I came along,’ Trump wrote on Wednesday morning, ‘The USA was, foolishly, paying for them.’

‘Russia and China have zero fear of NATO without the United States, and I doubt NATO would be there for us if we really needed them,’ he added.

‘We will always be there for NATO, even if they won’t be there for us. The only nation that China and Russia fear and respect is the DJT-rebuilt USA.’
