Anne Hathaway glows in transparent gown at Mother Mary premiere

Anne Hathaway had all eyes on her as she arrived at the premiere of her controversial new film, Mother Mary, in New York City on Monday.

The actress, 43, commanded attention in a theatrical sheer Lever Couture gown made out of shimmering mesh ribbons.

The star accessorized with metallic silver Christian Louboutin heels and wore diamond and emerald Bulgari earrings and rings worth over $100,000, according to In Style.

The Oscar winner wore her dark brunette tresses in a straight style, cascading down her back. She accentuated her features with delicate glam, including light pink blush and matching lipstick.

Hathaway plays a chaotic pop icon in the upcoming A24 psychological thriller, directed by David Lowery.

The film has already sparked controversy ahead of its release, with some viewers calling it ‘blasphemous’ and accusing it of mocking the Christian faith due to its religious imagery and title.

Hathaway was joined by a number of stars at the premiere, including country pop singer Kelsea Ballerini, 32.

Ballerini wowed in a daring look as she went braless under a crisp white blazer paired with matching pants.

Meanwhile singer FKA twigs, 38, stunned in a Victorian-inspired beige corset dress.

She paired the eye-popping look with chunky black platform heels.

FKA twigs is featured on the film’s soundtrack album – titled Mother Mary: Greatest Hits – which is set to be released on April 17.

Hathaway’s co-star Michaela Coel was present as well. The actress looked sensational in a pale pink halter neck top and black pants.

The first trailer for the film was released in December and saw Hathaway transform into a regal pop star commanding a stadium packed with people while wearing glittery leotards and gowns.

Hathaway got to be full-on glam as the troubled singer, even rocking two-tone platinum locks created by hair and make-up artist Heike Merker.

The former child star hardly had to fake it, singing original songs created by Jack Antonoff, Charli xcx and FKA Twigs.

The promotional imagery for the film has been drawing a strong reaction among fans. Some have taken offense to the religious symbolism, particularly imagery tied to the Virgin Mary.

‘That is highly disrespectful,’ one commentator wrote on X, after the trailer was released.

‘No thanks I don’t mock God,’ another added.

‘So disrespectful, yikes.’

‘I hope this isn’t picking at religious beliefs,’ someone else added.

‘Anne you lost me on this one!’ yet another fan added.

‘How sad. I admired you, Anne. But this is so disrespectful. And yes. I’ve watched the trailer just in case you argue that this film is not about Holy Mary. It might not be, but what are your intentions in using Christian symbols?’ another asked.
