Alan Shearer partners with Betfair to launch ‘Hot Take Hotline’

Former England captain Alan Shearer has partnered up with Betfair to launch his ‘Hot Take Hotline’ for this summer’s World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions have landed in the United States ahead of the tournament on Monday afternoon, with their first group game against Croatia to take place on June 17.

And as hype for the summer’s showpiece in North America continues to climb, Betfair are giving supporters the opportunity to showcase their opinions to Shearer both before and during England’s bid for World Cup glory.

Shearer will be answering the biggest ‘hot takes’ from fans across the country every week, starting from the beginning of England’s warm-up matches, with the first coming against New Zealand at the weekend.

The former Newcastle striker has already responded to one football fan during the launch on the hotline, with the question asked showcasing just how brutal supporters are encouraged to be.

The fan in question asked Shearer: ‘One Premier League title in 18 years, and an eight-game managerial spell that ended in relegation shouldn’t qualify someone as a Premier League all-time great, should it?’

‘That’s one Premier League title more than you,’ Shearer responded.

Betfair Spokesperson, James Mackie said: ‘When it comes to England at a World Cup everyone and their nan has an opinion. At Betfair, we love to celebrate those big bold takes that make football the beautiful game.

‘So, we’ve launched Shearer’s Hot Take Hotline to give fans the opportunity to put their steaming opinions to an English football legend, and each week Alan will call it how it is.’

Alan Shearer’s Hot Take Hotline will be a weekly feature throughout the 2026 World Cup. Fans can share their opinions by calling 0800-707-4073, calls from the UK are free of charge.
