He was the bookies’ favourite to win I’m A Celebrity.
But in a shock turn of events, the rapper Aitch is the ninth contestant to be voted off the ITV reality show.
The 25-year-old’s main motivation for going into the Jungle was to raise awareness for Down Syndrome, a condition his sister Gracie has, and on Friday night’s episode they shared an emotional reunion.
But it was not to save Aitch, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, from the public vote and he was axed last night.
The Manchester-born rapper was the biggest contender to beat his close friend and social media star, Angry Ginge, to King of the Jungle.
But now Ginge, 24, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, faces the EastEnders’ actress Shona McGarty, 34, and Celebs Go Dating star Tom Read Wilson, 39, in the tomorrow night’s final.
Before he was voted out, Aitch took on the Celebrity Cyclone, the biggest and most challenging Bushtucker Trial on the show.
On Friday night I’m A Celeb fans were reduced to tears as Aitch was reunited with his sisters Gracie and Hattie.
Sitting down to catch up with their brother in emotional scenes, Gracie, who has Down’s syndrome, told him: ‘We’ve missed you so much!’
And speaking to Ant and Dec in his exit interview they asked him what it was like being reunited with his sisters.
‘Unreal, I was gobsmacked, I felt like they were fake I had to touch them.
‘I think it is just a mega experience for them as well to be somewhere like this and in series’ to come they can watch and think “I was there”.’
Aitch also spoke about what he enjoyed in jungle life as he explained: ‘It is good to be in a world of that for a little minute, no distractions no phone.
‘The only thing on your mind is what is in front of you and I think that is a pretty good way to live life.’
Aitch also broke his silence on sweet gate after Kelly Brook revealed they had secretly eaten the sweets as she exited the jungle.
On Monday night’s episode Aitch, Kelly and Ginge won 19 milk bottle sweets during a Deals on Wheels challenge to take back to the hungry campmates, but instead, they secretly ate one each before returning back to camp.
The trio had kept it quiet but just before she left the Jungle on Tuesday night’s episode, Kelly told the unsuspecting campmates, ‘By the way, there were more than 10 milk bottles.’
And addressing her comments Aitch said: ‘I need a word with her. She tried to snitch and she didn’t even snitch good. If you are gonna snitch go all the way.’
Asked who he wants to win jungle king or queen, Aitch confessed his champion is fellow Mancunian Ginge.
He said: ‘I love Shona to death I think she deserves it, same with Tom, but that crown needs to come back to my home town so its Ginge.’
During his time in the Jungle, fans noticed a romantic spark between the rapper and his campmate Shona and it was a key storyline for this series.
However, his fellow contestants who have since left the Jungle dispelled those rumours explaining the pair were ‘not interested’ in each other romantically, despite Aitch explaining he had a ‘soft spot’ for the actress.
Accepting a place on this year’s I’m A Celebrity is part of Aitch’s move into the mainstream having spent the past seven years of his career in the alternative rap world.
It was revealed this week, he was already in talks with the fast fashion brand, BoohooMAN, to sign a £1million clothing deal.
Aitch rose to fame in 2018 from his rap hit, Straight Rhymez, and has since gone on to win a Brit Award for his music.
On tomorrow night’s episode, the public will learn who has been crowned King or Queen of the Jungle for this year, following in the footsteps of McFly star, Danny Jones, and Coleen Rooney, who placed runner-up last year.
