Liam Gallagher is set to hold talks with the mother of his love child after she demanded he hand over £500,000 a year.
The frontman, 53, is set for a showdown with Liza Ghorbani, 51, just hours after coming off stage last night at Wembley in Oasis’s final UK show of their reunion tour, reported The Sun.
The negotiations are centred on the amount Liam will pay to support his 12-year-old daughter, Gemma, whom he has never met.
He was thought to be paying around £3,000 a month, with New York’s Supreme Court hearing in June that Liam had paid £750,000 since 2015 when a confidential settlement was reached.
A legal motion was filed last week, according to US lawyers, which suggests a decision has been made regarding a yet to be specified amount, but it will only be a temporary figure until the terms of a fixed settlement are reached.
The singer’s lucrative 41-date reunion tour with Oasis is expected to make £50million after ending his decades-long feud with older brother Noel.
And insiders claim Liza is attempting to use Liam’s financial windfall to her advantage by demanding more money.
The Sun reports the American journalist is demanding £510,000 a year in child support and expenses.
‘It’s clear that Liza and her legal team are hoping to cash in on Liam’s big tour earnings,’ a source told The Sun in March, four months before the tour launched at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
‘He’s always been generous with his child maintenance, but now she’s asking for even more money. It’s causing Liam unnecessary stress as he prepares for the tour.’
Maintenance payments in the United States were previously paid until the child reached 21, but a change in statute has extended the age limit to 26 – meaning Liam could be forced to pay as much as £7million for the upbringing of his daughter.
‘Ms. Ghorbani will have to argue Gemma is impaired enough that she cannot support herself,’ New York based family attorney James Sexton told The Sun.
The trouble began when Liam was forced to confront the paternity of Gemma after she filed a £2million lawsuit for child support in 2013.
Liam was fined for missing court hearings and publicly admitted that he hadn’t met his daughter, although he offered to help her if needed.
He has had a tumultuous love life that has resulted in four children from various relationships.
He shares daughter Molly, 27, following a brief fling with singer Lisa Moorish and son Lennon, 26, with ex-wife Patsy Kensit, as well as son Gene with ex-wife Nicole.
Liam is now engaged to his co-manager, Debbie Gwyther, 40, and appears to be enjoying a more settled relationship.
Liam is said to have relented on a booze ban last night to join brother Noel for an afterparty to celebrate the end of the band’s UK shows.
He is said to have toasted to the band’s success alongside his sibling and beloved mum Peggie following their final gig at Wembley.
Noel, 58, was said to be ‘chuffed’ by Liam joining the afterparty with the duo in ‘a great place,’ following the shows.
A source said: ‘Liam joined the after-party for about an hour on Saturday night. Everyone raised a glass to the amazing tour.’
They added to The Sun: ‘It was a special night and Noel was chuffed Liam had relented on his booze ban to join them.
‘Camp Oasis is in a great place and everyone is over the moon with how special it has been.’
During the show Liam ‘confirmed’ that the band will return next year with more gig dates following their successful run of UK dates.
The frontman dropped the biggest hint yet that the band will be back following rumours that they will release tickets for Knebworth shows next summer.
Ahead of their final song, Champagne Supernova, at Wembley Stadium Liam thanked fans for making their reunion tour happen.
He said: ‘I wanna thank you lot for keeping the faith and putting this band back on the f**king map. Champagne Supernova. See you next year!’
The group has been tipped for a return to Knebworth, the site of their famous 1996 gigs at the festival of the same name in Hertfordshire.
The announcement was met with cheers of delight from the crowd, with many others hoping that they will finally be able to see the band.
The brothers arrived on stage hand-in-hand, opening with Hello, from their 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, with Liam holding a maraca.
He greeted the rapturous crowd, saying: ‘Have you missed us?’ before launching into anthems that included Some Might Say, Morning Glory and Roll With It.
Oasis announced their reunion tour in August last year, 16 years after their dramatic split in 2009.
