Mason Greenwood has his jersey RIPPED by Tyrone Mings

Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood had his shirt ripped by Tyrone Mings as tempers flared in a pre-season friendly between Aston Villa and Marseille on Saturday.

Mings appeared unhappy with Greenwood after the Marseille forward had clashed with Amadou Onana off the ball.

Mings, after a free kick had been awarded, picked up the ball and walked over towards Greenwood.

As Greenwood appeared to laugh at Onana, Mings quickly grabbed the forward with the incident escalating.

Following the clash, Greenwood’s shirt was visibly torn with several Aston Villa fans quick to praise Mings for his quick defence of his team-mate.

One user wrote: ‘This is one of the reasons why we love him so much at the Villa.’

The clash came after Greenwood had opened the scoring for Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille – only for John McGinn to equalise for Villa.

A brace from former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed the win for went on to clinch victory for the Ligue 1 side.

Unai Emery will come up against one of his former clubs in Villarreal in Villa’s final warm-up game on Sunday before they host Newcastle United in their Premier League opener next Saturday.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Greenwood had taken a step closer to switching international allegiances to Jamaica after receiving citizenship.

It has now been five years since Greenwood, 23, earned his solitary cap for England, while still a Manchester United player.

In January 2022, he was arrested for allegations of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behaviour.

The charges were later dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service, a year later, following the ‘withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light’.
