Chelsea ‘mystified after £30,000 worth of equipment goes MISSING’

Chelsea are reportedly mystified after £30,000 worth of high-tech camera equipment used in training disappeared from their Cobham headquarters.

According to The Sun, the club called Surrey Police over the missing gear.

While it is not currently known whether the equipment had simply been mislaid, the incident has been deemed suspicious enough for the police to become involved.

Just like many other elite clubs, Chelsea use video footage from training sessions and matches extensively to aid their players’ tactical understanding.

It has also proven beneficial for physical preparation before games.

Chelsea declined to comment on the timing and circumstances of the discovery, but more details could come to light once all staff members return from holiday.

A number of Blues players have been rocked by break-ins at their mansions over recent years, including Raheem Sterling and club captain Reece James.

Sterling’s home was burgled while he was away with England at the 2022 World Cup, the group escaping with £300,000 worth of designer watches.

The superstar flew back from Qatar to comfort his family after talks with Gareth Southgate, but later returned to re-join his team-mates at the tournament.

Serial burglar Emiliano Krosi was part of the gang that used a ladder in the rear garden to climb through Sterling’s bedroom window and take ten Rolex watches.

Albanian Krosi was jailed for 13 years in November 2024 for his part in the raid on Sterling’s £7m house and 32 other burglaries across the South East.

James took aim at the ‘cowardly thieves’ who broke into his home in December 2021, while he was playing for Chelsea in the Champions League.

The burglars got away with a safe containing James’ Champions League winner’s medal from that year, as well as his Euro 2020 runners-up medal.

Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher has questioned Chelsea‘s direction under Todd Boehly and Enzo Maresca – claiming the Blues are still no nearer to mounting a Premier League title challenge despite splashing another quarter of a billion pounds.

Carragher is not convinced that Maresca’s revamped squad is any stronger than before, suggesting the club’s lavish recruitment has lacked impact despite eight summer arrivals costing around £250million combined.

‘When I look at Chelsea, I think about what you did in the Club World Cup – everyone wanted to win it,’ Carragher said, speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate.

‘Real Madrid really wanted to win, PSG did, and so did Manchester City, all those that we class as the best teams.

‘So I do think it’s a big thing and it will help build a connection between Enzo Maresca and the supporters, which wasn’t really there last season.

‘I’m not sure it’ll push Chelsea any closer to the title, though. When Chelsea do business, over the last couple of years, it feels like a lot of players are changing without anyone really lifting the level.

‘I know Cole Palmer has been amazing, but all your wingers feel the same.

‘A perfect example is [Jamie] Gittens coming in and Madueke leaving – there is no elevation, and I see that with a lot of positions at Chelsea.’

Chelsea kick off the 2025-26 campaign on August 17 with a derby against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
