Somber Brad Pitt seen on film set on same day his mother died

Brad Pitt looked somber as he was seen on set of his latest project The Continuing Adventures Of Cliff Booth on Tuesday, August 5 in Gardena — the same day his mother Jane Etta Pitt reportedly passed away.

The Oscar-winner’s family confirmed Jane’s death in a social media post shared Wednesday but a public obituary claimed that the Pitt matriarch actually died on August 5 at the age of 84.

An exact time of death was not revealed in the obituary published by the Springfield News-Leader.

It is unclear if Jane’s sudden passing — which came just days before her 85th birthday — occurred before or after Brad’s time on set on Tuesday.

The upcoming movie is a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.

However, the filmmaker is not working on the follow-up and instead David Fincher is directing the Netflix project.

His beloved mother Jane passed away the same day at the age of 84 in Springfield, Missouri , per an official obit , but it is unclear if she died before or after the Oscar winner was on set; seen in 2012 in Hollywood

Only weeks before the announcement of his mother’s death, Brad had given a sweet shoutout to Jane while promoting his F1 movie.

During an appearance on the Today show in June, the actor told host Savannah Guthrie, ‘I’ve got to say hi to my mom because she watches you every morning.’

The star flashed a big smile on his face before waving to his mom. He then blew a kiss towards the camera and added, ‘To Jane Pitt. Love you, Mom.’

Jane was born on August 13, 1940 in the city of Memphis and later settled in Springfield, Missouri with husband William ‘Bill’ Pitt.

Before her passing, she had been a retired school counselor and former elementary school teacher.

A ‘private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to honor Jane’s remarkable life,’ the public obit stated.

Jane’s death was confirmed by her granddaughter and Brad’s niece Sydney in a heartbreaking post on Wednesday.

Sydney, the daughter of Brad’s younger brother Doug, lauded her ‘sweet Grammy’, writing: ‘We were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier.

Sydney, the daughter of Brad's younger brother Doug, lauded her 'sweet Grammy', writing: 'We were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier'

‘If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked.

‘She taught me how to paint, how to be strong, how to lead with kindness, to love Jesus through everything, and to find joy in the smallest things.

‘She made up the silliest games just to make us laugh, and she believed in fairness, in putting others first, and doing good simply because it was the right thing to do.

She added Jane ‘could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat. There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it.’

‘I don’t know how we move forward without her. But I know she’s still here in every brushstroke, every kind gesture, every hummingbird. She was love in its purest form.’

Sydney continued, ‘We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up and I know she lives on through each of us.’

Jane is survived by husband William Alvin Pitt, three children and 14 grandchildren.

Son Doug has Sydney, Landon and Regan with his wife Lisa, while daughter Julie is mom to Caleb, twin daughters Josie and Rylie, as well as adopted sons Caden and Cruz, whom she shares with her husband Scott Neal.

Brad is father to Shiloh, 19, twins Vivienne and Knox, 17, and three adopted children Maddox, 24, Pax, 21 and Zahara, 20 — who he welcomed with ex-wife Angelina Jolie.

He has been estranged from his children since an explosive fight on their private jet in 2016 resulted in Angelina, 49, filing for divorce — and last year insiders told the Daily Mail his parents were ‘heartbroken’ at not seeing their grandchildren for eight years.

Brad Pitt’s representatives declined to comment when contacted by the Daily Mail.

Jane wed Brad’s father William — the former owner of a trucking company — in 1962 and the future Oscar winner was born the following year.

After the birth of Brad in 1963, William and Jane welcomed son Doug in 1966 and sister Julie in 1969. They raised their family in Springfield, Missouri.

While Jane and William kept mostly out of the spotlight, they did occasionally join Brad on the red carpet.

They memorably supported their son and then-partner Angelina at the 2012 Academy Awards.

In 2014 they walked the red carpet with Brad and three of their grandchildren at the premiere of Angelina’s film Unbroken — after the actress was unable to attend due to chickenpox.

Jane had said at the time, ‘We’re so very proud of Angie. This means so much to our family, especially our grandchildren. We love her dearly.’

Angelina had also praised Brad’s parents in the past for how they had accepted her adopted children.

‘When I first met them I came in with two adopted children from other countries and I didn’t know how they were going to be,’ she said. ‘But they are equally loving with them.’

In 2009, Brad and his siblings donated $1 million to open a pediatric cancer center at St. John’s Children’s Hospital, located in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri, in honor of their mother.
