This is the horrific moment a van was obliterated by a high-speed train after its driver got stuck on the tracks after trying to jump a red light.
Shocking CCTV footage shows the white van speeding over the train tracks this morning in the Polish village of Wola Filipowska after it ignored traffic lights.
But the driver suddenly becomes trapped when the barriers come down.
Even though one of the bars is slower at closing, leaving the driver enough time to drive off the tracks, the vehicle remains still and then backs up and drives back onto the track.
As the fast train approaches, the driver frantically starts to think of an escape route to avoid being hit by the locomotive.
The motorist manoeuvres his vehicle so that it is parked up on the side of the train tracks.
But as the driver moves the van in an attempt to squeeze as far into the side as possible, a train packed with passengers whizzes past and forcefully rams into the vehicle.
The van, which is almost completely destroyed by the brutal smash, is shown in pieces.
Miraculously, the van driver was not injured, and neither were the train’s passengers.
The incident is currently being investigated by the prosecutor’s office, which is looking to determine the exact cause of the crash, Polish news outlet Fakt reports.
The surveillance clip, which has gone viral on social media, has sparked mixed reactions from viewers, with several blaming the driver for the accident and pointing out that the crash could have been avoided.
‘Step on the gas man’, one Reddit user wrote, pointing out that the driver had enough time to pass through the barriers before they closed.
‘Why would you not drive through the barrier at that stage?’ another user reiterated.
Another user wrote: ‘Careless or idiot driver -> panic kicks in -> they don’t want to ruin their car by breaking barriers -> trying to manoeuvre out -> get hit by train anyway’.
The shocking incident comes after an Amazon delivery died last month after his vehicle was struck by a train.
The tragic incident happened on July 13 in Teynham, Kent.
Police, ambulance and the fire service rushed to the site of the crash but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Southeastern, which operates trains in the area, said it was ‘deeply saddened’ by the accident.
An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement: ‘This is a terrible incident and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the delivery driver’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
‘We will work with police and the delivery service provider as they investigate’.
No one else was injured in the collision.
