Katie Price’s prison showdown with husband revealed

She thought she’d finally found her happily-ever-after when, dressed in white, she walked down the aisle with a man she’d barely known for a week.

But just four months on from that wedding in January, it seems as though Katie Price’s whirlwind romance has turned into a tornado of lies and betrayal.

For the Daily Mail can reveal that the former glamour model, 48, boarded a plane from London Gatwick to Dubai on Monday with every intention of ending her marriage to Lee Andrews.

Katie told her close circle that Lee has serious questions to answer about vanishing for two weeks and claiming he had been kidnapped. It was later revealed – by the Daily Mail – that he was being held in Al Awir prison in Dubai.

A source close to Katie said: ‘This really is make or break now. If Lee can’t explain himself then it will be over.

‘Katie is well and truly fed-up with Lee’s behaviour and what he is putting her through. She has said enough is enough now.

‘She is adamant she will face him in prison and demand answers in person. If not, she says she will get them from the authorities herself.’

Although she’s hinted at divorce, Katie was pictured still wearing her diamond wedding ring as she walked through departures at Gatwick.

She’s also shared her plans to talk candidly with Lee in a social media post to fans, saying: ‘Let’s go, today is an important day for me.’

In an update after she had arrived in Dubai, she explained how she would be visiting the courts, police station and prison where Lee is being held.

She said: ‘And who knows what today’s going to bring, I’ve had four hours sleep. I’m so tired, by the time we got to the hotel it was 3am. I couldn’t sleep. I’ve probably had an hour-and-a-half sleep and I still look like this.’

Before his arrest Lee, 41, had sent a series of text messages to the mother-of-five, claiming he was being kidnapped following an international manhunt.

It led Katie to plead with fans on social media as well as with the authorities to help her find her missing husband. Now, though, she has been telling friends that the situation has left her feeling furious and embarrassed.

The fiasco meant Katie was without her husband on her birthday, and swamped by allegations that she was ‘in’ on his disappearance, which was considered by many a tasteless media stunt.

Even close friends who have staunchly supported her through numerous bankruptcies, nine engagements, four marriages and three messy divorces previously told the Daily Mail how she‘d had a part to play.

Katie’s four-month marriage has also been tainted by claims from women – some of them Lee’s former lovers – that he scammed them and that his new wife should ‘run for the hills’.

While Lee denies being a conman, he is said to be subject to a travel ban by UAE authorities after allegedly forging a former partner’s signature to obtain a £200,000 mortgage in Dubai. This would have prevented him from flying back to see Katie irrespective of his imprisonment which is reportedly to do with ‘a civil matter’.

The drama has resulted in heated rows between Katie and her sister Sophie and mother, Amy, who are at their wits‘ end over the impact that Lee has had on the family. They ordered Katie not to fly out to see him, but she ignored them.

My source told me: ‘Katie has fallen out with her siblings again. Sophie is fuming about the whole situation, but so is their mum Amy who isn’t well and is struggling with it all. The added stress has really taken a toll on her and Sophie has tried to make Katie see this.

‘She was told not to go to Dubai but has gone anyway.

‘The advice landed on deaf ears, and this week Katie accused them of meddling in her relationship and they had another big bust-up.

‘They are really sick of the situation with Lee now. They have never been introduced or spoken to him and have told Katie they never want to.’

When contacted, Sophie insisted there had been no fallout, though my source added: ‘Sophie has been reduced to tears over the situation, crying to other family members and her close friends over the situation.’

What is more, Katie’s stand-off with her sister has financial implications. She hosts her weekly podcast series with Sophie, which regularly ranks highly in the podcast charts. The latest episode is due to be released tomorrow, but as of Tuesday, the pair were not in contact.

Katie said she first realised Lee was missing when he failed to turn up to the couple’s first joint interview on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, May 12, leaving her to be quizzed by hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls alone.

While she claims to be the innocent party, make no mistake the chaos has given Katie significant free publicity – something she has always chased.

She has a monthly retainer with a red-top newspaper worth thousands of pounds.

In exchange, the paper is fed stories and provided exclusive access to her before other publications.

This explains why every twist and turn in her marriage to Lee and the hunt to find him after his so-called ‘kidnap’ was highly publicised.

While Lee was ‘missing’, Katie posted videos on social media singing Rae’s song Where Is My Husband! in the middle of an aisle in a supermarket. She also posted several stories with Olivia Attwood, who split from footballer Bradley Dack earlier this year, and the pair joked about their ‘missing’ husbands.

And her posts during Lee’s disappearance and imprisonment earned thousands of likes and engagement.

It was the Daily Mail that first revealed Lee had not been kidnapped, but in fact detained in prison after his father Peter told us: ‘Lee is OK. He has not been kidnapped but he is under arrest. I don’t know on what charge.

‘I’m not sure where he is being held. But he will call me later today.’

This was vehemently denied by Katie, who shared a screenshot of the news story to her 2.6million followers on Instagram, branding it ‘fake news’.

But just days later, in the red-top newspaper she has a retainer with, she claimed Lee had just been found.

As she comes to terms with the fact that Lee has fed her a web of lies, only time will tell if Katie can get the answers she needs to salvage her marriage.
