Robert Pattinson has responded to underwhelmed critics of his Batman body, insisting that he worked out twice a day.
Much of the focus for the actor’s debut as the Caped Crusader in 2022 movie The Batman was on his superhero physique, with some reviews comparing him to a ‘boyish vampire’ rather than the usual standard of a bulked-up DC hero.
Robert, 40, has now backtracked on previous comments that he didn’t train hard for the role, insisting he worked out multiple times a day, and at all hours.
‘[Everyone was like], ‘You didn’t work out at all.’ I worked out every f***ing day,’ Pattinson told GQ.
‘Even after that, I still look like I didn’t work out. I worked out twice a day at, like, three o’clock in the morning.’
He admitted his press interviews were to blame for the lack of rave reviews for his body, explaining ‘I’m like, It’s just because I said it in an interview. I was trying to sound cool!’

Rob talked about his physical transformation back when the movie was revealed, famously claiming he ignored the trainer hired for him by the studio.
‘I think if you’re working out all the time, you’re part of the problem,’ he said at the time.
‘You set a precedent. No one was doing this in the ’70s. Even James Dean— he wasn’t exactly ripped.’
Rob is returning to the role in Matt Reeves’ long-awaited sequel, with production set to begin in the UK any day.
And this time around he is forward planning, moving to a new LA house with partner Suki Waterhouse and their daughter which features a home gym, perfect for his pre-shoot workouts.
The star though says the Batman movies are by no means the most physically intensive sets he has worked on, citing his next big release Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
‘I’ve never seen people look so exhausted[working on a movie],’ he explained.

‘This was only a third of the way. I started a third of the way through the movie, and they’d already been to [two] countries by that point, and people just looked like… at the end of every day, people were broken.’
His co-star Tom Holland also said in an interview this week that the shoot was his ‘toughest’ job to date.
