Eric Clapton cut Madrid concert short after being hit by vinyl record

Eric Clapton cut his recent Madrid concert short after being hit by a flying object.

Shortly after he performed Cocaine at the Movistar Arena on May 7, an audience member threw a record at Eric, 81, near the end of the show, striking him in the chest.

Clips circulating online show what looks like a vinyl sleeve hit him in the chest as he walked off the stage and he then left without performing his encore.

The star has been performing a cover of Bo Diddley’s Before You Accuse Me during his 2026 tour.

Eric’s Madrid concert was his first appearance in the city in 25 years.

The singer and guitarist is set to perform at Sandringham this summer.

He’ll play a one-off concert at the royal residence in Norfolk, as part of the HeritageLive series, which returns to The Sandringham Estate between August 20 and 23.

The Layla hitmaker will top the bill on Sunday August 23.

Giles Cooper of HeritageLive Festivals has said: ‘Eric Clapton is one of the greatest musicians of all time and it’s a dream come true for all of us at HeritageLive Festivals to have him play at The Sandringham Estate for us next August.

‘It’s going to be such a special and unique event – one of those gigs where you say in years to come “I was there!”. We just can’t wait!’
