Andrew ‘confronted by balaclava-clad man’ in Sandringham

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been left shaken after reportedly being confronted by a man wearing a balaclava close to his new Sandringham home.

The suspect was said to be waiting in a car and started running at the royal, who was walking his dogs at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

The balaclava-clad was apparently agitated and ‘shouting at him’.

Andrew, who was with a bodyguard, ran towards his own car and drove off at speed.

The suspect tried to chase on foot with police said to have arrived shortly afterwards.

The man was apparently arrested at the scene and took him away for questioning.

His car was also searched.

Andrew was said to be ‘shaken’ by what happened and he has been asked for a statement, as has his personal protection officer.

Norfolk Police and Buckingham Palace have been contacted for comment.

The balaclava incident came weeks after a man and girl sparked security concerns outside Andrew’s new home.

The former prince was inspecting Marsh Farm, his new permanent home on the King’s Sandringham estate, when a red car pulled up outside on Thursday, April 2.

Two people got out and proceeded to scale the exterior gate before attempting to peer over a newly erected 6ft fence in front of the farmhouse.

Pictures show a man and a girl stood on top of the gate while trying to catch a glimpse inside the property, which is undergoing renovation works ahead of Andrew’s move in the coming weeks.

Andrew’s security was quick to react and the pair jumped back in their car and drove off.

Andrew appeared spent the afternoon at his new house and was seen meeting up with the Sandringham estate manager, Edward Parsons.

He is currently living at nearby Wood Farm, whilst his new house is being renovated, but has made several trips there this week to check on the progress.

Builders have been working flat out to get the property ready for Andrew, fitting luxury carpets, a Sky dish and a fast broadband connection.

Andrew was seen visiting the property just a day earlier as he was spotted behind the wheel of his Range Rover wearing a maroon cable-knit jumper, with his security guard next to him in the passenger seat.

The disgraced ex-Duke, who has been accused of leaking secrets to Jeffrey Epstein, is expected to remain in Norfolk over Easter and will not attend the Royal Family’s traditional service at Windsor this year.

He has been keeping a low profile in Norfolk since his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in a public office on his 66th birthday on February 19.

Before moving to Sandringham a few weeks ago, Andrew was regularly seen horse riding around Windsor.

But he has gone to ground.
