World’s most notorious prankster jailed for 15 months

A prankster who has caused chaos at a string of sporting events in recent years has been jailed.

Daniel Jarvis, 37, better known as ‘Jarvo69’ on social media, sent BBC Match of the Day into meltdown when he smuggled a phone on set that played sex noises live on air.

He has also managed to invade countless sporting arenas in recent years, infiltrating Twickenham, the Oval, Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium and Cheltenham Festival.

His appearance at Twickenham for England’s Six Nations match against Ireland in November 2022 has resulted in his jail term, having been found guilty of using a false or borrowed ID to gain entry into the national stadium, infringing Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006.

The prankster was sentenced to 15 months behind bars after appearing at Kingston Crown Court.  The case was adjourned to May 10 for consideration of a Criminal Behaviour Order, arising from an offence of possession of articles for use in fraud.

The stunt saw Jarvis run onto the famous pitch in full England kit, before joining the end of the line-up for the national anthems. He was swiftly tackled by a security guard and removed from the premises.

The CPS said in a statement: ‘The defendant appeared at Kingston Crown Court on April 27, where he was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment. The matter was adjourned to May 10 for consideration of a Criminal Behaviour Order, arising from an offence of possession of articles for use in fraud.’

Responding to the sentencing, a friend of Jarvis posted on his X account: ‘After a currupted [sic] jury found him guilty of not using but having a fake id which they say he would of used if he had needed to in Twickenham rugby stadium, it shouldn’t of been taken into the venue and was merely a prop for the intro of the video.

‘He was sentenced on the 27th April to 15 months, this is not the suspended sentence he received, that was the week before, there is no mainstream press on this at all weirdly.’

In November last year Jarvis was banned from attending all national and international football matches for five years after invading the pitch during Ireland’s clash with England at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

In 2021 he was hit with a suspended eight-week jail term after colliding with England cricketer Jonny Bairstow on the Oval pitch during a Test against India. He reportedly changed into an India kit and ran onto the field, pretending to bowl a ball and visibly angering Bairstow – at the non-strikers’ end – before stewards removed him.

Appearing at Croydon Magistrates’ Court after that incident, he was also banned from attending any sporting event for two years.

The Youtuber denied he had intended to disrupt the match, telling the court: ‘I get loads of people saying they have got mental health [problems] and my videos make them happy.’

A week prior to his sentencing in Kingston, Jarvis appeared at South Sefton Magistrates’ Court when he was issued with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order for invading Everton’s pitch before the rugby league match between Australia and England.

On that occasion he joined the Kangaroos’ line-up in full gear, and appeared on the TV broadcast attempting to sing the Australian national anthem.
