I’m a PI – and there’s a weird car habit most unfaithful men have

A private investigator who has caught hundreds of cheaters has revealed the one ‘weird’ sign she notices in almost every unfaithful man.

Cassie Crofts, who runs a licensed private investigation service called Venus Investigations in Australia, gets paid to work on cases of unfaithful partners, whether it’s stakeout surveillance work or background checks.

The PI, who splits her work between New South Wales and Queensland, posted a video saying that one of the biggest giveaways is when men suddenly start obsessively cleaning their car inside and out after beginning an affair – a behaviour that is often overlooked.

‘When people cheat, it’s not always just their own appearance that starts improving,’ Cassie said.

She added: ‘There’s a really weird sign that a man is cheating. It’s men going and getting their car cleaned, getting it detailed, getting it washed when they don’t generally do that.

‘There’s something about the start of a new affair or relationship that makes men want to have a pristine car… it’s the cheating sign everyone misses.

Cassie said she was first made aware of the sign after her mentor told her about it.

‘Since he mentioned it, I can’t stop seeing it in so many cases,’ she said.

Her video has been viewed more than 40,000 times – with many weighing in.

‘My ex (did this) and every time I got out of the car, he made sure I took every single item of mine out – sunnies, hat and bottle of water – everything,’ one woman shared, adding: ‘It was wild! I had a gut feeling why he told me to.’

‘I found a tube of mascara in my ex-husband’s car when we first started dating and we were long distance. He also got it cleaned to make sure nothing was left in the car,’ another shared.

‘This is ABSOLUTELY a thing,’ one confirmed.

Many were confused by the seemingly innocent act, with one woman asking: ‘So every time they clean their car… we should stress about that too now?’

However, Cassie pointed out: ‘Only if it’s out of character and part of a broader concern! We get ours cleaned all the time because of the dog.’

Elsewhere, others shared other ways their partners were secretly cheating.

‘New shoes and clothes are also a sign,’ one suggested.

Another agreed, adding: ‘New haircut and cologne. That’s why an affair is the greatest act of disrespect. They can dress up for someone else but not their committed partner.’

One woman said she knew right away her husband was cheating when he decided to take out the bins ‘off his own accord after the last 12 months of me begging him to do it – and he never did’.

Cassie previously revealed how she discovered an unfaithful man was having a secret affair through Flybuys.

She was hired to uncover the truth after the man’s wife grew suspicious of his frequent trips, which he claimed were to visit his ‘family’.

The couple lived in Queensland – but the wife knew something wasn’t right when her husband was regularly travelling to New South Wales, a claim she later discovered was a lie.

The only detail she noticed in their joint bank account was his random trips to Coles and Bunnings, but she had no other information to prove he was a cheater.

However, the penny dropped when the wife began scouring their Flybuys transaction history and realised where her husband had been all along.

Each transaction showed the exact suburb where he had been shopping.

The suburb turned out to be the same area where the husband’s ex-girlfriend lived.

‘This case was wild,’ Cassie said in her video, with the caption: ‘$10 off your shop, but a very expensive divorce.’

The PI explained how she was working with her client, the wife, to figure out whether her husband was cheating.

‘We were pretty sure he was doing it,’ Cassie explained.

She added: ‘They lived in Queensland and he was going on these trips to see his “family in NSW”, pretty regularly which he never used to do.

‘So she checked their joint bank account, there was stuff on there like Coles and Bunnings but we didn’t know where that was happening. We didn’t have any details of who was there so it didn’t really help us.’

So, Cassie suggested the wife check their joint rewards accounts for any clues.

‘I said to her, ‘Have you got any joint rewards accounts like Everyday Rewards or Flybuys, that kind of thing?’ And they had Flybuys,’ she said.

‘So we opened the app, and right there were all the transactions – Coles, Kmart, Bunnings – showing the suburb where he had been shopping.

‘It just so happened that the suburb was in Queensland, where his ex-girlfriend lives.

By looking at the tiny details in the transaction history, they realised the husband was never in New South Wales, but was actually visiting his ex-girlfriend, who lived in the same state as them.

‘Bro gave it up for a few extra rewards,’ Cassie said.

She added: ‘For a lot of people, they find it hard to trust their instincts without proof even when all the signs are there.

‘A little evidence gives them the push to take action.’

The detail was enough to confirm the wife’s suspicions were right all along.
