Damian Lewis fans mock the star’s new music video

Damian Lewis might be an acclaimed actor, but fans have been mocking his new ‘unintentionally hilarious’ music video for his song, King.

The video sees a bare-chested Damian, 55, walking around concrete stairs, wearing an open jacket with a fur collar in scenes that fans are convinced is a parody.

While he always looks very cool on the red carpet, few have found it hard to get past his bright white loafers.

And what’s more, his lip-synching has viewers unable to take their eyes off his exaggerated pout which seems to be a staple of the video.

Damian, who is in a relationship with Alison Mosshart, the frontwoman of the rock band The Kills, has been working on his music for a few years, alongside Robbie Wiliams’ old musical songwriter Guy Chambers.

Fans wrote: ‘The song is dull but the video is unintentionally hilarious, whoever styled it should be prosecuted.

‘It’s the white leather slip on loafers? Why? By all the Gods WHY?’

‘Pouty stair walk.’

‘Damian Lewis was great in “Billions” as Bobby Axelrod & beyond incredible as Maj. Richard “Dick” Winters in “Band of Brothers.” Amazing Actor, stick with that. Guy went full Hasselhoff.’

‘Very strong David Brent vibes here.’

Yet some people absolutely loved the new song and video, writing: ‘Saw people mocking this online, thought it was quite good myself and now I’ve had to come back to it because it’s stuck in my head.’

‘He should do musicals like Hugh Jackman. Very theatrical.’

‘Song is a grower, video is memorable.’

Back in March, BBC traffic presenter Sally Boazman accidentally insulted Damian Lewis’s new song in front of him in the studio.

Damian appeared on Romesh Ranganathan’s show and things took an embarrassing turn when Sally asked ‘What is this dirge?’ as his song Sweet Chaos played.

The situation was made even more awkward by Mr Ranganathan asked Ms Boazman to repeat what she said, prompting laughter to erupt in the studio.

Damian tried to brush of the accidental insult with humour, responding: ‘I put a lot of time and hard work into this, Sally. Into this dirge, into my rock ballads.’

Sally immediately began apologising to Damian and said: ‘I listened to it more closely and I think it was very, very good. You’ve got so much talent, you can do so many things. You are a real polymath.’

Damian found fame portraying U.S. Army Major Richard Winters in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.

He won a Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for his role as US Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody in Homeland and received nominations for his performance as Henry VIII in Wolf Hall.

The British actor told Mr Ranganathan he only started taking his music career ‘a bit more seriously’ in recent years.

He released his first album Mission Creep in 2023 and performed the national anthem at the Grand Prix in Silverstone.

His album Sweet Chaos comes out June 5, with Damian set to tour the UK in October and November.
