Two British sisters have alleged they were raped by two men they met on a night out on the Greek island of Rhodes.
The teenagers, aged 18 and 19, told police they had been at a nightclub in the island’s medieval old town on April 27 when they struck up a conversation with two British men.
The group spent time drinking together and socialising before leaving the venue later that night.
According to their account, they then went to a nearby hotel, where they were separated into different rooms with the men.
It was there, the sisters allege, that they were attacked after initially agreeing to go back with them following the night out.
They reported the alleged assaults to police shortly afterwards, prompting an immediate response from local authorities and the launch of a formal investigation into the claims.
Officers from Rhodes’ crime investigation unit quickly moved to locate the suspects and arrested the two men, who are understood to be brothers, following the women’s statements.
A case has since been opened against them as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Investigators are now gathering evidence, including witness testimony, CCTV footage from the surrounding area and any relevant forensic examinations, as they build a clearer picture of what happened that night.
The two suspects are expected to appear before a prosecutor, who will determine the next steps in the case as the investigation continues.
This is not the only shocking incident to happen on a Greek island recently.
In October, police arrested a Nigerian hotel worker after a British tourist was allegedly raped on the island of Kos.
The 45-year-old victim told officers that she had been sexually assaulted by the 42-year-old man in her room at around 7pm on Monday.
She said she had been drinking and that the hotel employee took advantage of her condition.
Following an investigation, police officers of the Kos Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Department located and arrested the suspect, who is being held before appearing in front of the Kos District Court prosecutor.
