Multiple people injured in shooting near Arcadia Lake campground

At least ten people have been injured during a shooting at a ‘Sunday Funday’ event in Oklahoma.

Two men wearing ski masks reportedly opened fire at the party, which was attended by many young adults.

A massive emergency response, including officers in tactical gear, swarmed a campground at Lake Arcadia at around 9pm.

At least ten attendees were taken to hospital. Others drove themselves, with one victim heading to a nearby gas station for help.

‘This is obviously a very terrifying situation,’ Edmond Police spokesman Emily Ward said, adding: ‘We are working extremely hard to find the suspects.’

The conditions of the victims were unknown on Monday morning.

As of early Monday morning, there were no suspects in custody, but officers were reviewing footage from Flock license plate reader cameras.

Police had earlier told KFOR that the shots-fired calls likely originated from the Caddo Pavilion at the campground.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found four people with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle near East 15th Street and Timberlake Avenue, according to News 9.

One woman told a reporter her ‘cousin and sister were shot’. Another also said he was shot in the leg but was doing OK.

‘It’s very sad to see someone that you know or that you love, just – it’s a very scary, hard thing,’ one witness told KTWV.

Others at the scene have reported hearing more than 30 shots fired.

Videos posted online showed ambulances and police cruisers at the scene, with troopers decked out in full tactical gear as they responded to the shooting.

Those attending the scene included Oklahoma City Police, Edmond Police, Edmond Fire Department and Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

A photo posted online also showed a white sedan with red streaks on the side, appearing to be streaks of blood.

Many young adults were seen at the scene, having attended the ‘Sunday Funday’ event that had been scheduled at the Scissortail Campground near Arcadia Lake.

It promised ‘good vibes, good people, food and drinks’ and ‘music all night’ from 6pm to 12am Monday.

Police said Sunday night they did not have details about whether the party was tied to a specific celebration.

But, Ward said, most attendees were believed to be young adults or older teenagers, and officials do not believe any children were present at the time of the shooting.

Videos posted online showed a large crowd of people dancing under the pavilion where the shooting was believed to have taken place.

One person who appeared to be standing next to the blood-streaked white sedan also appeared to be featured in the poster for the event.

Police said they did not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public at this time.

‘We are going to be investigating into tomorrow,’ Ward said.

In the meantime, a reunification center has been set up at a local Walmart in the town north of Oklahoma City, and next of kin notifications have been made for all known victims.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Edmond Police Department at (405) 359-4338.
