Multiple people injured in shooting near Arcadia Lake campground

At least 10 people have been injured in a shooting near Arcadia Lake in Oklahoma, where emergency services were seen swarming the area on Sunday night.

A spokesperson for the Edmond police announced that a shooting was reported at around 9.00 at a party at Lake Arcadia, and first responders the Oklahoma City Police Department, Edmond police and fire department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

Ten people were transported to local hospitals in various conditions, though the spokeswoman noted others may have driven themselves.

‘This is obviously a very terrifying situation,’ the spokeswoman said, adding: ‘We are working extremely very hard to find the suspects.’

Police had earlier told KFOR that the shots fired calls likely originated from the Caddo Pavilion at the campground.

When officers then arrived at the scene, they found four people with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle near East 15th Street and Timberlake Avenue, as those on the scene said that several people they know were shot, according to News 9.

A reporter at the scene also said she spoke to one woman whose ‘cousin and sister were shot.’

Witnesses have also reported hearing more than 30 shots fired.

A photo posted online also showed a white sedan with red streaks on the side, consistent with streaks of blood.

The police spokesperson at the scene said the shooting came as a large group of young people were having a party.

A ‘Sunday Funday’ event had been scheduled at the Scissortail Campground near Arcadia Lake, which is believed to be the same location as the mass shooting.

It promised ‘good vibes, good people, food and drinks’ and ‘music all night’ from 6pm to 12am Monday.

No suspects are in custody as authorities continue to speak to witnesses.

But police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public at this time.

‘We are going to be investigating in and on into tomorrow,’ the spokeswoman said.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
