Coleen Nolan insists she is ‘far from being a millionaire’

Coleen Nolan has hit back at claims she is rolling in dosh and insisted that she is ‘far from being a millionaire’ despite what fans might think.

The TV personality, 61, admitted last month that she was worried about her mortgage payments after Loose Women bore the brunt of the ITV’s brutal budget cuts.

Now Coleen has delved further into her finances during the latest episode of family podcast Nolan’s Uncensored, alongside son Shane, 37, and daughter Ciera, 25.

Shane said many fans assumed the family was ‘minted’ due to inaccurate online reports suggesting his mum was worth somewhere in the region of £5M.

Coleen said: ‘Honestly I wish to God that was true. Everything I do people go, ‘It’s alright for you, you can afford it. We are far from millionaires, far, far, far!’.

“I think that’s the thing that winds me up, still for me now, because if anything happens [they say] “That’s alright for you, you can afford it’ or “You obviously got it free”‘.

She then went on to discuss the realities and financial burden of running her North Staffordshire farm where she houses 30 animals.

‘OK we need to work on the aesthetics but I am here and I am doing it, I just didn’t know it would be this hard, I didn’t realise it would be this hard as in doing it all.

Before adding: ‘Because contrary to what you all believe I am not a millionaire and I cant afford staff!’.

Meanwhile Loose Women’s output has been drastically reduced from all year broadcasting to a fixed 30 week schedule, with its traditional live studio audience also axed as it moves to a smaller studio space.

And Coleen a recurring panellist since 2000, says the drop in episodes has had an impact on her financial status.

‘On the one hand, it’s nice to have a bit more time off,’ she told OK! ‘But on the business side, I think, “I’ve got a mortgage to pay.”

‘We get paid per show and I’m filming fewer shows. But it has given me more incentive to do other TV work.’

The Daily Mail exclusively revealed that the ITV programme was set to axe the live audience and schedule in a desperate bid to save money as the channel’s budget cuts raged on.

Joined by daughter Ciera and son Shane they said many fans assumed the family was 'minted' due to inaccurate online reports suggesting she was worth somewhere in the region of £5M.

While limited funds have affected output, rumours of backstage tension among a revolving panel of stars has followed the show from Television Studios to its new home at The H Club in Covent Garden.

But Coleen is quick to dispel persistent claims of a toxic atmosphere, adding:  ‘We all get on. We’ve got a WhatsApp group and support each other through everything. It’s like having 20 extra sisters.

‘I’m closer to the people I work with most, so people like Christine [Lampard], Ruth [Langsford] and Brenda [Edwards].’

Speaking to the Not My Bagg podcast in January, Nolan admitted the budget cuts at ITV had cost many of her friends their jobs.

‘We’ll only be on during term time now. So all the holidays will be off,’ she said. ‘On one hand, you go “quite nice time off”. But then on the other hand, you go, “I’ve still got bills to pay.”

She added: ‘It’s just a different vibe, I think it will be okay but I’m just going to miss a lot of different people behind the scenes.

‘It will still be live but there will be no audience and I don’t think they are having guests. I just feel like it will be like a podcast but on live television.

‘But, it could have been worse. They could have said: “By the way, we’re not recommissioning it. See you later.” It’s still here, it’s still going.

‘I love having the audience there. You know, you get all the feedback from the audience and the adrenaline from the audience. So that’s going to be really weird for us.’
