Rivals fans tear into Tottenham as they launch Peppa Pig range

Tottenham have come under criticism for launching a new Peppa Pig range in their club shop as they battle relegation.

Spurs are favourites with most bookmakers to take the third relegation place in the Premier League, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side 18th in the standings and two points off safety with four games left to play.

It has, on occasion, been argued that the club have not focused on on-field activities but more off-field money-making, and the Peppa Pig launch has sent some fans into a frenzy.

On the club website, supporters can purchase six different Peppa Pig items in the latest move of a partnership between the club and the children’s television show.

Fans can choose from four different variants of hat, each priced at £15. One is a bobble hat with the Spurs logo on as well as characters Peppa and George, with a cap reading ‘let’s play’ with a picture of George holding a Spurs foam finger and the word ‘Spurs’ also in the back.

Another cap has a pink theme and the Spurs badge on the front, with the same phrase on. George is seen wearing a white kit with the number two and bouncing a football.

A bucket hat can also be purchased, which features Peppa and George on the front in white kits, with the Spurs badge in between. The ‘let’s play’ catchphrase is also included.

Alternative options in the range are a backpack featuring Peppa and George with a Spurs badge, as well as a scarf with Peppa in a Spurs kit, the ‘let’s play’ catchphrase and the Spurs emblem.

It’s not the first time the two brands have worked together, with Peppa and George mascots attending a game in north London last month.

On May 4 and May 16, meanwhile, the club are offering fans the chance to meet Peppa Pig at the Tottenham Experience.

Rival fans were quick to mock the club for the launch as they fight for their Premier League status.
