Olivia Rodrigo finally confirms her split from Louis Partridge

Olivia Rodrigo has finally confirmed her split from Louis Partridge in a candid new interview.

Back in December, it was reported the singer, 23, and the British actor, 22, split after more than two years together.

Now she has a brand new album on the way called ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’, and fans are desperate to know if any of her new songs will give an insight into their relationship or breakup.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, Olivia confirmed she was in her ‘friendship love’ era and has been starting to date again.

The star was interviewed by her close friend Madison Hu for the publication’s Beauty Issue, when she was asked ‘what phase of love she’s in right now’.

Olivia replied: ‘I’m in the most important phase, the friendship love that I’m sitting right across from. Best friend, community love. Dating is just the cherry on top.’

She also explained what she had learnt from love recently, saying: ‘Patience. Things happen the way that they’re supposed to happen. It’s not supposed to be white-knuckle.’

The star also opened up about what fans can expect from the upcoming album, saying most of the big songs are about being ‘sad, angry and heartbroken.’

Olivia and Louis first made headlines as a couple when they were spotted together in his hometown, London, in October 2023.

But back in December, the songstress was reportedly spotted in tears at her friend Lily Allen‘s Christmas party at strip club Stringfellows in London over the split.

She previously told Vogue of her latest writing: ‘I’ve found a lot of inspiration from being in London.

‘I’ve spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that I’ve had here.’

Olivia talked about how she tried dating app Raya before meeting Louis, following the release of her album Sour in 2021.

However, she was only on it for a month after a bad date prompted her to swiftly delete her profile.

She said: ‘I was like, ‘Wow, never again. It was just so bad.’

‘I didn’t even see anyone cool! I thought I would see, like, ooh, some really hot actor guy. I don’t even know any of these people… It’s [always] some weird ‘creative director’. Like, you just don’t have a job.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Olivia revealed her favourite hotspots in the city, revealing she had ‘some first kisses’ at Chiltern Firehouse.

This weekend Olivia will be pulling double duty on Saturday Night Live as she is set to host and be the musical guest.

The American singer will follow in the footsteps of Sabrina Carpenter and Harry Styles who have also pulled double duty in Season 51.

Sabrina accomplished hosting and being the musical guest back on October 18, 2025, while Harry pulled it off on March 14, 2026.

Olivia previously made her SNL sketch debut in ‘Tiny A** Bag’ in December 2023 and her second ever live performance was on the show when she was just 18.

Ahead of her second musical guest stint in 2023, Olivia admitted she was ‘terrified’ while chatting on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

She said: ‘The second time I ever performed in my career was on SNL, and I was 18 years old. It was so incredible, I mean, what an honour, but I was terrified.

‘It’s so late, it’s so live, and I just remember being terrified and being in my dressing room and being like, “I don’t know if I deserve to be here, this is terrifying”.’
