Enola Holmes fans mock edit as Millie Bobby Brown sports fake nails

Millie Bobby Brown was the subject of mirth following the release of a teaser for the third Enola Holmes film.

The Stranger Things actress, 22, plays the titular role in the Netflix films, which are based on Nancy Springer’s books about Sherlock Holmes’ sister.

While fans were delighted to see a teaser for the movie ahead of its July 1 release, other more eagle-eyed viewers spotted a glaring anachronism in the form of Millie’s polished nails, which looked like acrylic extensions.

Despite being painted in a subtle light nude colour, fans pointed out they were most certainly not her natural nails due to their length, shape and their sheen.

X was swiftly flooded with comments, with users writing: ‘1885, but make it fashion’; ‘Movies not caring about little details like this is just cheap’; ‘About to confuse the entire 1800s with that level of slay’;

‘Plot twist: she’s been time traveling just for the gel sets’; ‘Dont blame her, the nail tech is a time traveller’; ‘Those nails screaming 2026, not 1885! Hollywood time-travel strikes again’; ‘Attention to detail matters’.

And others added: ‘Small inconsistencies like this can undermine an otherwise strong scene’; ‘You time-travelled but still kept your nail appointment’; ‘It’s always the little things that matter. Pay attention to details’; ‘God forbid a girl travel to the future to get her nails done’.

Another user wrote: ‘Pulling up to 1885 with a fresh gel set like I didn’t just bend the entire timeline and stress the laws of physics.

‘They’ll be looking at me like where did she come from? and I’ll just be like “mind your business, I’m booked and historical.’

In the new movie, Millie will be joined by Louis Partridge, Himesh Patel, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Susan Wokoma, as well as Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter.

Netflix’s official press release states: ‘Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.’

The streaming service has released some sneak peek pictures from the upcoming film and in one, Millie looks stunning dressed in a white wedding dress.

The star looks incredible with natural make-up and a veil covering her face as she looks into the camera.

In another, Louis Patridge as her on-screen husband-to-be Viscount Tewkesbury looks dapper in a suit while chatting to Dr Watson, played by Himesh Patel.

Enola also appears in a tailored light blue jacket and a matching long skirt as she is joined on the streets by Sherlock Holmes, played by Henry Cavill.

Speaking about the upcoming movie, which is directed by Philip Barantini and written by Jack Thorne, Millie told Netflix’s Tudum: ‘What I love about this chapter is that Enola is stepping into a version of herself that feels much more defined but still evolving.

‘She’s built something for herself, which is amazing, but she’s also questioning what she wants next, and I think that’s something so many people can relate to.

‘Working with Louis [Partridge] has been such a huge part of what makes these films feel special. There’s a comfort and an ease between us now that you can’t really fake and it just comes from years of working together and supporting each other.

‘What’s been really nice is getting to explore a more mature version of Enola and Tewkesbury’s relationship. It’s not just playful anymore, it has real weight to it.

‘We trust each other a lot, which means we can take more risks and really lean into the emotional side of their story.’
