A father has been filmed fainting while witnessing the birth of his second daughter.
Maicon Pedroso was in the hospital in Criciúma, Brazil, with his wife, Mariane Felippe, as she went into a C-section labour on April 18.
But in the exact moment that Mariane gave birth, Maicon fainted.
The father was holding his wife’s hand when he blacked out, leading a woman in scrubs to grab him from under the armpits as he went limp.
With smiles on their faces, she and her colleagues gently lowered him onto the floor as he lay temporarily unconscious.
The nurses then lifted his legs and fanned his face as they worked to bring him round.

Photographs show the father-of-two, dressed in scrubs, on the floor as a nurse held him up.
Maicon told local media: ‘I don’t remember anything at all from the moment the baby was born.’
Birth photographers Patricia Vogel and Viviane Borges later recalled: ‘When we arrived, they were a bit anxious, but everything was going as expected.
‘It was all happening in a light, calm way, with the medical team feeling very confident and the parents too.
‘Then, at 8.24am, at the exact moment the baby was born, the father fainted.’
According to the pair, Maicon quickly recovered and was able to be with his daughter following the C-section.
The couple already have an older daughter whose birth occurred without any complications.
Maicon fainting was said to have taken the entire medical team present by surprise.
The photographers told local media: ‘We’ve been exclusively dedicated to birth photography for five years.
‘We’ve documented more than 1,500 births, and this is definitely a scene we’ve seen happen a few times before.’

A clip of Maicon fainting has since been viewed nearly 19 million times online.
One viewer joked: ‘Women don’t realise how tough it can be for the father. Stay strong, warrior!’
Another quipped: ‘The baby’s birth – and the father’s rebirth.’
‘Stealing the spotlight,’ one viewer jokingly commented.
Meanwhile, another viewer added: ‘Imagine having seven layers of skin cut away and your husband saying in the background, “But I had it worse because I fainted.”‘
Profissionais Health urges parents to remember that intense reactions from parents are an extremely rare occurrence, with factors such as anxiety, anticipation of the birth and being in an unfamiliar environment sometimes leading to a physical reaction.
The mother, father, and their newborn daughter are all doing well.
